....or maybe we’re hoping to do the big boy signings in the summer?

Yeah I get that but we desperately need a striker now. If the money wasn’t there for 2/3 signings we should have prioritised a striker first imo even if it was a risk

a couple of bits from dragon1, first bit was posted earlier today, before kwp to saints and before piatek to hertha
As things stand there is way under 50% chance of a second signing we are miles off on both striker deals
Regarding outs we are looking at a couple of loans right now

on bale: unless we are willing to break our wage structure and increase it 40/50% then unless Barnett does a huge u turn it ain’t happening
Madrid are willing sellers though

Sounds about right. Rose the other one going out on loan I suppose.

So as it stands we have addressed none of our problem areas.

RB, DM and Striker.

Fucking laughable.
I think Aurier's form has reduced the desperation at RB, there probably aren't many decent DM's available in Jan (if Jose even wants one) , and we don't know about a striker yet with most itk still being confident.

I'm not gonna call this a shit window by a long chalk. Most thought we might sign one player at most, yet we've already got two very useful additions. Plus we've secured Gio and look to have cleared some space in the squad with Eriksen and KWP gone, with more possibly to follow.

Yes, we need a striker badly but it's not over just yet.

Lets be honest. its hardly a surprise that we are struggling to find someone that fits the bill given that we've had the whole month & yet we're still going nowhere fast in our attempted pursuits.

I cant see it changing in 2 days

Dragon and JJ could both be right really. We're far apart from our valuation of a striker but we still get a loan. We were far apart with Betis for Lo Celso. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar deal for Jose.

Also (although I'm personally disappointed by it) we've had ITK that Jose turned down Berge, which would suggest that he doesn't see the DM situation as being as desperate as many supporters do. There's been some suggestion that he thinks Gedson will shore up the midfield, so perhaps we'll be able to get by for the next few months without a DM and then direct our funds toward a top-class signing over the summer.

As long as we sign a respectable striker it will have been a very decent window IMO.

Willian José da Silva, better known as willian José. Hamlet the revenge play; we were shat on by Jose/Chelsea Re Willian. Now we’re returning with a vengeance and getting Willian (da Silva: reward)
Of all the attempts to crack the cryptic, this is the one I would bet on because of the logic, not because it Willian!!

I like Dragon1’s Bale ITK. That he is still being mentioned, he could still be an option. The question is how much of a financial punt does the bald one want to make..?

This, exactly this! We knew nothing about this guy and then bang, he’s ours within a week. We do have scouts and had been following SB for a year or so. Poch probably turned down players on the scouts list, which we now appear to be turning into signings. This is good news!

That we turned SB around in under a week makes me confident that there’s more to come. Plus each ITK gets details from a different angle and while there’s still possibilities I’m confident!

Yeah, I tend to agree. With 48hrs to go, there's still time for other developments - I'll start panicking at 5:00pm on Friday afternoon if there aren't strong signals coming from Hotspur Way.

Really want us to sign a striker, but to be honest, neither Piatek or Jose seem like the type to come in and fire us to a top 4 position. Instead, they seem more like Janssen, the type of player who takes up a non-HG spot and who we'd be desperate to offload in 18 months time. To that end, given where we are, I'm actually glad if we're not pressurised into a permanent signing (unless it's another VDV opportunity) and instead would be happy with a homegrown player with Premier League experience joining on loan until the end of the season.
