Surely should be our team going forward for most of this season?

Agree, but then I think that says as much about Skipp as anything else. He puts himself about, but I just don’t see much there to be honest.
He absolutely should be given the chance next to Winks but just can't see Jose going down that route anytime soon more's the pity.

Aesthetically, Dier has always looked like an old-school rugby union forward. It's a shame that his mobility has increasingly followed suit in the last couple of years.
He's a centre back masquerading as a midfielder.

Needs to be encouraged to ply his trade there.

Well it wasn't 7.

Pros: sessengon, skipp, foyth did ok, it didn't matter in the context of qualification
Cons: players didn't grab the chance, lack of energy,

I think we can see why poch didn't trust kwp a lot. He needs championship games or a lower prem side to achieve his potential. I don't see it being at spurs.

About what I expected to be honest, whoever we put out. As units, their patterns of play and ability to zip the ball about was far superior to our defensive set up and structure. A lot of that was carbon copy of the previous match, and when we play the likes of Man City etc who operate similarly. Overloads and lots of specific positional and pattern play that expose us in the channels and wider areas and leave us looking very ragged. Something, new manager or not, we need to find solutions to.

yeah although I don’t see anything to get excited about I think he deserves a chance given the state of Dier and Wanyama.

Well that second half felt a bit depressing. It's not the result - which I was expecting - but it was the effort.

I don't mind us standing off and being wary and conceding we are facing more talented opposition but there was time after time in that second half when Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Eriksen, Sissoko were just jogging back when KWP and/or Rose were left with just Foyth and Toby for protection while Dier held the middle.

Jogging? You should be fucking sprinting back into a defensive formation that was agreed when out of possession every time.

As bad as anything under Poch in his last days and pretty much the same formation/tactics.

We know Eriksen's gone but Jose's got other "buy in" problems on his hands. Needs to sort it asap or fucking start Skipp (and Parrot) who at least look like they really want it.

It's worrying that the moment we come up against decent opposition all the old problems resurface. I wouldn't have worried if Parrot/Skipp/Tanganga had started but I don't think I would have had too as I think they would all have sprinted.

Also, Jose would have learnt a lot tonight.

He would. The Lo Celso wankfest based on YouTube was very premature. We have no depth in FB position. Our midfield is weak. The attitude of some players is awful. Moura is not a CF. Dier is not a captain. No matter how much Eriksen tells him he's "fully committed", he's lying.

I'm not blaming Gazzaniga but I can't help but watch back some goals we've been conceding and think that it doesn't take a lot to beat him.
Low and hard shots that are close to him, he's not agile enough to stop them...Hugo throws out a leg and stops most of them

I would like to see Foyth DM

He has composure, isn't afraid of receiving the ball under pressure, he can pass the ball and most important of all - he can move his feet and has good body shape.

Dier is now in the same boat as Wanyama. If they were in the NBA they'd be on the roster only for the veteran status/leadership and wouldn't even get scrub minutes.

Jose needs to move on from Dier immediately, the season depends on it.

Dire,Rose, Eriksen, KWP were extremely poor not just tonight but most of this season and last. Its got to the stage were they cannot be relied on as squad players anymore. If we get any offers for them in January then we should take it.

I would take every regular starting DM in the Premier League over Dier. He has regressed so much that its painful to watch.

Skipp edging ahead of others in the pecking order
Hope so, the lad has mobility and does try to move it quickly. It remains to be seen whether he can keep discipline and offer better protection.

It's a very tough role he's being asked to do though so I can see why Jose may not trust him yet
