Is it an OLED? I’m very happy with my TV at the moment, but I’ve heard good things about the latest Phillips OLED’s.
It's not but it was only a cheapish one (£450 50 inch 4k HDR Ambilight), you're right though the Philips OLEDs have been very well reviewed...and Ambilight is the nuts.

Talking of time delays, always annoys me when watching England games during a tournament and neighbours are clearly watching a broadcast 30 seconds or so ahead of me and I can hear them cheering etc.

Do you watch ITVHD if so there’s a delay than ITVSD

or watching on sky box is behind watching on freeview

Yep bouncing the signals through space definitely introduces a delay...Ive never noticed the delay between ITV HD and SD, but I've never really looked for it.

I turn my notifications off if I'm behind or streaming. Too many games have been ruined by the Sky, Eurosport and Spurs apps!

exactly, why would want notifications of a game you are watching, its like going to the cinema but reading the full plot beforehand, don't do it.

usually when a Tottenham game on I ignore all notifications ( WhatsApp etc ) but do come into the Match Thread on SC if I want a laugh

The phillips tvs use the same panel as the Sonys i'm pretty sure I read that.

That's the trouble, it'll be a blessing and a curse. Yes you'd be able to watch all the spurs games and only pay for those, but how long is it before e.g. Man Utd and Liverpool start saying "Well 7m people tuned in to watch our games every week and only 30 people watched Burnley's games, so why should we share the money round" and once that happens you'll have 2 or 3 clubs who are massively richer than the rest of the league and it'll all be FFP-compliant as well. Would turn the PL into an even more boring version of La Liga.

It's a matter of time before Premier League sets up its own broadcasting platform ( probably online and channels on Sky / Virgin / BT ) , in fact i have no idea why they aren't doing this already , just cut out the middle man

My first widescreen TV was a Phillips, back when broadcasting in 16:9 was quite new and half the programmes ended up looking artificially stretched :D. It was a great TV though.

Phillips disappeared from the game for a bit, but seem to have had a bit of a resurgence. My last 4 TV’s have been Panasonic, but when I inevitably upgrade in a few years time I might seriously look at the Phillips OLED’s. I’ve always been intrigued by the Ambilight feature.

Most TV’s tend to share panels, with the differentiator being the internal processing, tuning etc. In the OLED game, LG are the only company currently making panels.

I have 2 VPNS one works with Netflix and PRIME

Yeah I can get it to work if I switch servers but still, it's funny that Amazon tries to block access to its sites entirely and not just content with rights restrictions.

And people pay for an overall Amazon Prime membership. You have to pay specifically for the Sports package on top of your Sky supscription, and so it'll be the same here. Sky already offer match/day passes as well.

All that it means is that the price of the deal that Amazon have to pay for will be higher.

Yeah we'll have to wait and see. Personally I'm just very suspicious that this is a good thing.

They must use different grades of panels though? Maybe phillips use the same grade as Sony entirely guessing

Don’t know about all the LED/LCD TV’s, but certainly with the OLEDS ( sorry again ;) :D), all of the range from all the manufacturers in any given year will use exactly the same LG panel.

Of course, they will do things differently with filters and other things and more importantly how they drive the panel.

This happened in a pub I was in about 15 years ago. both the BBC and ITV had the England game (they’d been sharing the group games but both showed this knock out match) - Some bright spark at the pub opted to show BBC to one half and ITV to the other. At one point half the pub started cheering which caused a lot of “what the hell is that about?” looks only for 5seconds later for us to see the goal. Was very weird and got the landlord major grief
