They're both intelligent men, Levy knows what Mourinho is like and vice versa.
I would hope this sort of thing would've been discussed at length during negotiations and agreements made, otherwise as you say its pointless and neither of them will come out of it with any credit.
Conversely I know loads of Chelsea fans in Brazil and I always meet Arsenal fans wherever I go. All talking about admiration for Wenger, Lampard, etc etc.
It baffles my mind why but proves that people admire successful clubs just as well.
I've also had non-Brits refer to Spurs as a 'nice' club. Fuck that, I want people saying we're a GREAT CLUB
As I said to another poster, you must care, otherwise you wouldn't be entering a thread like this one. You entered the thread to know what opponent thinks but then you don't care.
I never said it mattered btw. Just pointed out what a lot of people think.
I can assure you though that Levy cares about popularity. There's money in being popular. Besides being popular/liked is not mutually exclusive with being successful
Weird they are so pessimistic. I’m far from convinced we will win.
Yep.You're making a completely false equivalence - being interested in something isn't remotely the same as caring about it.
I might find comments from other fans funny, enlightening, cringe-worthy or any number of other things that make them interesting to me - but it doesn't mean for one second I even slightly care about anything they're saying.
I also don't care what Levy thinks is important. And if he's worried about popularity, then he needs to start questioning why the most successful teams are often the most hated. Jealousy and bitterness are very good signs you're doing something right - and they usually happen when you're winning. At the same time you usually also get admiration from afar - which is why there are so many more Arsenal/Liverpool/United supporters overseas than there are Spurs fans.
I know. They seemed to suggest he stayed up there. I guess I misunderstood!I'm struggling to understand where you're going with this.
He lived in a hotel in Manchester for the 2.5 years he managed United because it would be too far to commute from London.
It’s been a busy week for all of usI know. They seemed to suggest he stayed up there. I guess I misunderstood!
True, so many snippets on tv, not all heard completely. This week has been mad hasn't it? I still can't really believe it all! I can't even work out how I feel about tomorrow's game. Worried? confident? hopeful? excited? It's a strange time at Tottenham. It’s been a busy week for all of us
The last 2 for me. I never really bought the “boring anti Football” rhetoric about Mourinho, it all started with his first spell at Chelsea but, correct me if I’m wrong, that team racked up a record amount of goals and their goal difference was unreal. If I remember correctly, Cech got the golden gloves and they averaged better than 2 goals a game over the season. The fallacy that his Football was “boring” came from the fact that they overwhelmed teams, the neutral would find it boring because the opposition weren’t really offering anything, so it was less of a contest. The Chelsea fans loved it though.True, so many snippets on tv, not all heard completely. This week has been mad hasn't it? I still can't really believe it all! Spot on and Jose realised this which is why he was waiting for the right move this time and the timing couldn’t be much better for him to take the role at spurs tbh.
also regardless of that he came 2nd at Utd to peps 100pt man.city and he won 3 trophies so hardly a massive failure especially compared to how all other managers have done since fergie.
That's 1 more than we've won in the last 20 years Lighty.he won 2, unless you really count the community shield as a trophy, and beating Southampton in the final thanks to a massive cock up ruling a Southampton goal out
Sorry - I'd had a few and thought I was in the José thread. The fact he was talking about how great Spurs' duvets are made me think of you.I don’t get it?

Interestingly, I saw a stat the other day that said at Utd, Jose's goals per game average was 1.87. Poch's goals per game average at Spurs was....1.87!The last 2 for me. I’m hopeful that he brings that to us and excited about exactly that too. We’ll still get the contests against the better sides, but I’m hopeful that he brings that “putting them to the sword” with the “lesser” teams that sees us racking up goals and points in the same way he did with Chelsea in his first spell. I’m also hopeful that his introspective sabbatical gives us a more balanced Mourinho with the baggage left behind. In his presser he alluded to his DNA and that he still hates to lose. If that mindset remains, but is balanced by a more even keeled Mourinho then I’m truly excited about our prospects.
He said in his presser that we won’t win the title this season, but we could win it next season. I don’t know about anyone else, but that sent a shiver up my spine.
I was kind of on the fence when he was announced, for the obvious reason that we all know his history, but I’m finding myself more and more excited at what I want to believe he will bring us.
I am truly looking forward to the coming weeks.
I reckon he's allowed a few, considering people have called him Jo-Say for years nowPronounced Duvett lol
15 fucking nil mate. Their goalie is crap.Weird they are so pessimistic. I’m far from convinced we will win.
