I feel many posters miss when discussing new mangers is the conditions they would have to work under if they were at the club

Rarely have we bought our number 1 target and n a time frame that would enable a speedier integration into the squad

It really is about how the manager would adapt to the constraints imposed by the business model DL wants to implement

Our starting back four is Rose, Jan, Alderweireld, and Aurier. All have tried to leave in the last 12 months. None are expected to stay this summer. Hyperbole how?

Jose Mourinho has averaged almost two trophies a season since he started management. Since Jose has been a manager, he has won 25 trophies. Since Jose has been a Manager, Tottenham have won 1 trophy (League Cup in 07/08, where we ironically beat a Jose side in the final). So to say that Jose can do in 2 years what Levy has tried to do in 20 is not hyperbole.

Since the year 2000 Tottenham have won 1 trophy, or, 0.053 trophies a season.
Since the year 2000 Jose Mourinho has won 25 trophies, or, 1.316 trophies a season.

It is odd that you feel that a manager who has won trophies in every league he has ever worked in, including trophies with two teams in the SAME league that we play in, would suddenly become a loser if he joined us is a strange position to take.

Since Jose Mourinho won his first trophy as a manager, we would be literally the only team he has ever failed to win something with.
There's always a first time
and you have to start somewhere
.I'm not denying his track record
but you are treating it
as a given that he will win
a trophy or three for us.

As I said the cure is worse than the disease
in this Faustian bargain.

Davies?
Taxi for Aurier and Rose anyone?

You over-egg the Jose pudding.

Since Mauricio Pochettino became manager in 2014, he has won zero trophies.
In that same time, Jose Mourinho has won 5 trophies, and he hasn't even been in management the past two years.
He won the Premier League and League Cup with Chelsea, and then won the Europa League, League Cup, and Community Shield with Manchester United.

In the 5 years it took us to finish second place and runners up in the Champions League, Jose Mourinho won the PL, EFLx2, Community Shield, and Europa League with TWO DIFFERENT ENGLISH TEAMS.

You're now literally talking in broken sentences, answering no points made, and misusing faustian bargain.
“Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

Just to put Jose Mourinho into context:

In 137 years, Tottenham Hotspur have won 26 major trophies.

In the last 17 years Jose Mourinho has won 25 major trophies, and apparently averages a trophy about once every 34 matches.

If Jose Mourinho joins any other club apart from Tottenham next, then he will have won more trophies in 18 years than Tottenham Hotspur have managed to win since the club was created.

Not getting Jose Mourinho in when he is available is the definition of stupid.
His longest stretch without a trophy is only 18 months.

I’m sure we’d put that to the test. :shifty:

I'm not convinced that his new cuddly persona means he has somehow become a new person - everywhere he goes it ends up in drama.

Could he definitely win a pot or two with Rose, Davies, Aurier and an ageing Toby and Jan or would he need to ask the chairman to put his hand in his pocket - buying defenders wasn't a roaring success at Man U (or City for that matter)?

Would I take him if it guaranteed a pot or two - yes. Do I think it is guaranteed - no. Therefore for me I'd rather pass, also I'm an old romantic so like the idea of either Poch turning it around and forming another great team or someone else to continue with Levy's long term plan.

It is a nice notion but I can't see him turning it round I think the club is seeing out time this season before levy hires another mallable/gullable manager and the cycle continues.

So amused with some logics here trying to question Mourinho ability to win trophies with us. Answer is no one knows. Either he wins or he doesn't.

But why is it so hard to understand that the chances of him winning with us can be really high, since with soooo many historical data put forward already. ?‍♂️

Levy, please... Mourinho 'come get me' plea is quite obvious.. Only us or the scums. Our new stadium really needs some trophies to fill the pride. Act fast

So your only criticism is that he "doesn't stay long enough"?

Jose gets the job done in 2 years that Levy has been trying to do in 20 years.

We are apparently losing the entire spine of our team in the summer, including every member of our starting back 4. We need to do an "expensive" rebuild regardless of who is manager. I'd rather it be with a manager who can actually turn that rebuild into trophies, instead of another manager like Pochettino who does a 5 year rebuild, wins nothing, and then says it needs another entirely new rebuild just to get back to not winning things with style like we were 3 years ago.

In the last 17 years Jose Mourinho has NEVER failed to win a trophy with any team he has managed.

If Jose Mourinho can;t win trophies at Tottenham, no one can.
Round of applause!!! Spot on.

Look, don’t get your hopes up for Jose, Allegri or Ancelotti. As much as it makes sense, we all know deep down it’s not going to happen.
We don’t bring bonafide proven winners to the club, certainly not when it comes to managers, and the last player we brought in who you could class as a proper winner was Edgar.

Ok then mate...whilst we're all at the open top bus parades, you and @Stoof can meet up for a beer and celebrate your values.
This club, the players, and most importantly the fans deserve some success, we've been starved of it.
Im not sure we have any right to be picky with regards to how we go about getting it.

Woah woah woah. I don't have any values.

Yep,I can’t stand the guy but he really is a serial winner. I’m willing to give up my dislike for a guy if it meant my club Spurs we’re finally winning trophies us supporters deserve. We have been starved of success at this club for years and let’s be honest, under Poch we are not winning anything anytime soon. His record in the cup competitions are a joke. Mourinho would come in stop the rot and finally lead this club to success.
