Palace don't want Zaha to go and don't need to sell him to do what they want. They sold Wan Bissaka and only ever sign cheaper players. It's like when we tried to buy Zaha. We're the only interested party but we can't get them to lower their absurdly high asking price, despite them being a smaller club than us in every sense.
I guess the main difference is that palace didn't want to sell Zaha, but Betis seemed resigned to losing glc right from the start.
The equivalent would be that palace had not sold Wan Bissaka, had signed Pedro from Chelsea as a replacement for Zaha and were 50m in the hole hoping to sell Zaha to cover that and sign the other couple of players they wanted.
