True. But that doesn’t mean that the stories they write aren’t in good faith at the time of writing.

Just because a newspaper is ‘rubbish’ in terms of news coverage, doesn’t mean every single person who works there reflects that.

See the Ricky Sacks Tweets on the previous page. All he’s done is “pass on” two Spanish newspapers’ reports. That’s it.

But it’s “Ricky Sackslol!” on here. Has he given an opinion? No. So what’s the problem.

I can see that The Independent is now rubbish too. So what does that leave us. Is The Guardian ok? They’ve just quoted Marca on a Bale article as if it were reliable. But really clever people on SC who know more than The Guardian say Marca is rubbish.

So what paper should we listen to?
Never believe newspapers. They all troll for their owners.
Tomorrow will be the day, I reckon, unless they decide that with it being Levy they’re dealing with, they might as well save their plane ticket costs and just let him go today.

Transfers are really, really hard, and yet Europa bound, 5th place Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of a monster signing with Pepe.

"They moved the goalposts" only seems to happen to us.

For every Pepe to this argument there's a Maguire though.

You can sure that right now on their forums some people are absolutely terrified about something going wrong with the Pepe transfer

Why hasn't he signed yet? I heard Napoli are interested? Ornstein (who we all weirdly worship) said it was done but where's the announcement?

This happens to all clubs, not just us. Go over to a Man United forum and see what's happening........it's absolute chaos

edit: Just saw them linked to Malcom, which suggests even the papers aren't sure of them signing Pepe

Well his stats last season were second only to Mbappe

Sure but it’s no guarantee that those stats will transfer, just like I don’t expect Ndombele to have the same stats in the premier league as in France.

Pepe looks good to me and will be an important player for arsenal but surely they have other priorities.

You don't really have to look far to see that it doesn't only happen to us. It happens to everyone. In reality, none of us, or very few people on here know how football transfers work.

How they haven't sorted out their defence is beyond me.

I’m 43 years old. I don’t blindly believe anything. I just don’t blindly dismiss stuff either.

It doesn’t only happen to us. If you think it does, that probably means you don’t pay much attention to others teams’ transfers.

It's not some magic equation. Everyone understands that negotiations can change, players can hold out for other deals, prices fluctuate.

It happens to everyone, but the reality is that we are the only top club to have spent 18 months without signing a single player.

I am so peeved off about the constant claims by so many users here that "every team faces the same issues" that I was at one point seriously considering doing an actual scientific study to test that claim. Then I came to my senses and realised how utterly sad that would be.

No, they're massively overpaying because the rumors are that they're getting a deal with nearly nothing upfront. They're financing a 40m player, but they're getting it done.
Let's pay 75m for Lo Celso then?
Let's pay 30m for Sessegnon then?

.....then in 12 months time when we need another signing we will just have to say we can't afford it?

No one said it's a good move. It's pure idiocy but the point is they're consistently getting things over the line relative to us.

State of this post and those agreeing with it.

They've obviously reached an agreement with Lille to stagger payments over 3 or 4 windows. Not every club will allow you to do that for every player, hence why they couldn't get their first choice, Zaha.

As mentioned, United have had problems signing Maguire, Arsenal Zaha and Tierney, so it's clearly not only us.
