Was at the new stadium today and it is fucking unbelievable. The singing down at the goal line bar in the south stand was something else.

Gutted but proud of our club. Up to you now Daniel .

Thing is I don't actually think it "cost" us the game.

But it completely changed the game.

Liverpool turned into Burnley - and I think this actually gave a more of a chance because if we'd scored I think we'd have won. Liverpool were awful and CHOSE to be awful by not playing how they usually play. Because they had that lead. We just couldn't get the goal to take advantage and that was good defending by them and poor final third play by us. But we controlled that game.

So my objections to the penalty are purely about the future of the game - not specific to this one. That is not and never should be a penalty.

And I can't believe people argue otherwise.,

I absolutely agree. I find it terrifying that we will use this technology to say in the future: “that’s a definite penalty” when it clearly wasn’t. I suppose that’s a rules issue. But it’s wrong. And, as you say, it’s not really about tonight. Thought we played slightly better, but didn’t really deserve it

Far better than us? Fuck that.

People need to calm the fuck down. We lost, but we were not at all the lesser team today.

I completely agree with you Buddy. We were the better team over the 90mins. We just couldn't get the ball into the net, I'm proud of how we played the game. Remember this was Liverpool's second Champions League Final in a row, its our first ever and our first European final for 35 years. If you play that game again 100 we would probably win 60 to 70% of them. I know that a lot of supporters are upset but look at the position our football is in! Did anyone think when Sol Campbell ruthlessly & callously stabbed us in the back that Arsenal one day be more obsessed about our results than their own? I know it hurts but hopefully we can build on this and remember that we are finally on map as a force in Europe and that will help to that attract a better quality player.

Was anyone else queuing down the Seven Sisters when those dickhead Arsenal fans rode by on their bikes taking videos of the Spurs fans and taking the piss? It was weird: I’m not into a return to violence at the game, but I wish that Spurs fan got a proper punch in...

Whether we agree with the penalty decision or not, the fact is that if totally ruined the game from the off. Liverpool fans may, of course, disagree, but my best friends, who are completely unbiased, all agreed that the penalty 30 seconds into the game: 1) was questionable and 2) totally changed how the game was going to be played.

In all our opinions, Spurs were the better team on the day, but that decision completely ruined the match for us. It really (absolutely, totally) sucks that things came down to that, but all we can do now is learn from the experience. And I think we will...

Fairly simple really, the penalty decision killed us. It killed our motivation and gameplan and played perfectly into klopps hands as they just sat back and pressed at the right times, were so hard to play through and then picked us off with the 2nd goal to finish the game. Yes we had a few chances and their keeper made some good saves but it was a bit too little too late. I’ve said this 100x that we miss a game changer world class player probably a midfielder. They have mane an salah who can do it, we have no one at that level of consistency. Yes Kane scores a lot of goals but if you mark him out of the game as good as Lucas and son are they are not yet at salah and mane level, also dele is wel off the pace this year and as good as Eriksen is he doesn’t score a huge amount. This is where a player like Hazard for example would’ve taken the game to lpool on his own and won a penalty or scored or created a goal out of nothing, the only player we’ve had like that for the last 20 years is bale and we massively lack one now to get us over the line in these big games.

Team dug in and managed the game well going behind so early and proud of the boys but ultimately we weren’t good enough and klopp seems to have the measure of poch to be honest. A better RB and CM would’ve really helped us though I think.

Just to scatter some ‘happy dust’ on the situation, this also means that our record of being the only English team other than United to win a trophy since the ‘50s is over
Counting starts with '1'. There are ten years in a decade. The last year of this decade is 2020. So we have one more season to retain that record.

Sorry, but Salah didn’t do anything. Mane did backheels when not necessary.

So proud of the team, but didn’t expect the final to play out like this. Liverpool were scared, and they only survived thanks to an even more scared referee. He must have thought he auditioned for a full time position in the PL. Should have shown yellow cards to them in the first half, allowed time wasting and played advantage when it was clear that there was no advantage. There was a foul on Son in a promosing position where he could have brought the play back but bottled, for example. Not to mention the penalty.

They are a better team than us as the table shows, but the pathetic refereeing made it a dour final instead of the pulsating game it could have been.

You clearly don't watch Mane and Salah play often then. Especially Salah.

Salah misses loads of sitters week in and week out. All of his shots were quite terrible today. Liverpool fans were complaining about him especially in the second half.

It's not that we don't have quality players. We abslutely do especially our attack is on par with them in terms of quality. Even Liverpool fans all agreed with me on this. Our front four, Kane, Eriksen, Dele and Son are world class on their day. Kane is world class any day obviously.

The difference is their midfield and fullbacks. Not our attack. They create loads of good chances for their front 3 and their midfield has a defensive workhorse like Fabinho. Also they have been quite lucky with injuries. The front 3 played most of the games together both in the league and the CL and have much better chemistry plus Klopp always sticks with the same system/formation so they are also well-drilled.

You are underrating our players too much. I don't get it since they also had such a poor game.

Erm. Still here. In the words of Tom Jones., why why why delilah....
My head is in a shit storm of angst.
Cannot stand this Liverpool love in but were we even in it? 21 fucking seconds. Penalty. Was it? Yes probably. And we never got back in the game.

Liverpool have just jumped up to no. 2 on my hate list after arsenal.

Raw. Maybe I won't feel like that once I've a slept, but probably will. At this present second in time, I hate life.

But that maybe because I'm clinically depressed. Tonight hasn't helped. Maybe tomorrow might be better? I doubt it though...

Penalty decision/law ruined the biggest game in club football. All this sissoko's arm was in an unnatural position...bollocks was it, he was pointing to a teammate to get in position...so you can't do that now apparently cos an opponent can fire a ball at you standing just a few yards away and get a penalty for it, even if it deflects off the chest first. Game's gone. Hate to think how many penalties will be awarded next season when it comes into the league.
Of course Spurs had 90 mins effectively to get back into it but going ahead meant Liverpool could just sit back and defend with everyone behind the ball...made it far easier for them than if they'd had to remain on the attack at 0-0.
Yes Spurs should have still done more but that penalty ruined the game as a contest before it even got going.

In the cold light of day I am reflecting on what could have been. We ‘ve all said until we are blue in the face that the penalty was harsh. Sure it changed the game, sure it perhaps knocked the floor out from underneath us, threw our game plans out of the window within 25 seconds. The truth is we had 89 minutes to regroup knuckle under and turn things around, which in hindsight we couldn’t manage against an unusually lacklustre Liverpool side.

I’m gutted beyond belief that we didn’t go on to become champions, gutted that Mauricio and the team have left empty handed.

This season has been a real roller coaster ride. We have played without new recruitments for over a year. Played away from home for almost all of it. Had injuries to Kane (twice), Winks, Vertonghen and Lamela. We lost Son for a large period of time and suffered dramatic loss of form from Alli, Eriksen and Trippier, and yes our after Christmas form has stunk the place out at times.

But I am also proud of my club. How many of us would have not wanted to have bask in the glory of beating probably the best team in football on their own patch in the quarter finals. How many will not relive the heart stopping final seconds of that incredible Semi-final again and again. To overcome each of these setbacks and still finish 4th and reach the hallowed Champions league final is much more than I could have expected.

I would like to Thank Poch and his staff, the team and everybody at Tottenham Hotspur FC for giving me these memories and am longing for them to create me many, many more.

Thank you Daniel for the new sparkly stadium, but now is the time to back your man, get behind him and take us to the next level.

Maybe people are sick of us bombing out ALL the time.

We have won fuck all since 08 - nothing.

Finals, semis ALL LOST.

Something like eight FA semis, EIGHT.

The club is business first, football second - yet we pay top money for the football.

Agree mate. Too many on here are happy to accept 'plucky' 'over achieving' little 'ol Spurs failing at a crucial moment again. We as fans, as a whole, need to start demanding more instead of being happy to make a semi final or, in this case, a final!

apologies in advanced for posting same crap on another thread.

I see a lot of comments here people saying that if we spend like liverpool and plug the gaps, we will be great. There is no guaranetee, if we did spend which is questionable under levy, that those players will be as good as pools or better.

This club has always tried to play catch up and follow other teams since i have been a spursfan. For years, we tried to emulate wenger model but havent quite achieved it (no trophies, no leagues). We need to spend like crazy every year or come up something new ourselves which other teams will want to emulate. following gets you know where but innovation does.

I think this was our big moment and i dont think we will get another like this again for years, if at all.

North london owners care about business first, football second. Those northern clubs want to win trophies first, business second.

We will look back on this with great sadness but at the same time with some fondness.
