I'd prefer Martial, always have, but I do like Zaha. Surely if they both want us? Then it has to come down to Poch as to who he prefers. But he needs to tell baldy quickly as we could lose out on both.

When comparing the two players, I think 'how good would Martial look if he played for Palace and was given as much freedom as Zaha gets'

Both are great players and as someone said earlier, as long as we get one or the other, I don't think I mind which.

Well as i said previously HK and DA will both be ready for Newcadtle, others no idea

They might be ready but I've seen little evidence over the last few months that either of them are fit - worrying that we're willing to risk them rather than just having alternatives.

Who’s this player from outside of Europe that would cost £50m? I assume it’s a WF? Any ideas guys?

Carrasco maybe? Surely his wages are scandalous, so probably not him.

Keep guessing, that always goes down well.

Anyway, I was sulking before but ITK is still looking remarkably optimistic, even in the face of not an awful lot of actual movement.

am torn on this one or the other scenario as surely it'll mean whoever we don't get, the chavs will pick up when willian goes.

if we get zaha who I believe is poch's first choice, then the chavs have a free run at martial
if we get martial who I believe is the better player but not poch's first choice (apparently) then zaha goes to the chavs
martial will be harder to do and clearly with the biggest risk but for me, the bigger ceiling. however, comes with the biggest chance of being left high and dry.

no wonder it's deadline day time......

We won’t get martial, that much I am convinced of but if we fuck about with Zaha and end up with nowt I’ll be pissed off! I think Man Utd are messing us about personally!!

Yep, if martial is number one choice then I think united will lead us on all the way to deadline day, before pulling the plug and leaving us with no time.

A few days ago Herc talked about high stakes poker game that Levy is playing. With this ITK about going down to deadline day, I keep thinking of Levy trying to wait United out on a Toby-Martial swap type deal. Maybe Zaha fee is agreed but we are waiting to finalize. The high stakes of this possibility would be chance that if we wait on Zaha, he says "screw it, im going to Chelsea" and then United doesnt deal on deadline day, which leaves Spurs with no one except Toby, whom Poch probably doesnt want around.

I think you've absolutely nailed it. In the Zaha thread there's an interview about how he likes to feel wanted. Very risky game to play waiting on Martial as i'm sure Zaha would be aware he's only second choice. I just don't trust United so we should deal for Zaha as he's still a good option that Poch is obviously happy with.

High stakes-Poker-Bluff-And all the odjectives. Daniel Levy is going to have to deliver on his promises to Poch! Zaha we know. He hasn’t physically spoken to us yet officially, but will know in next 48 hours is my estimate.

I would not agree Toby to Yanited, if they block Martial to us. To me it reflects sadly bad on us as a big club, who have no political power against the big guns. So statements HAS to be made. We need to make it QUICK! I am sure the press will come out in that soon enough, and you will all put 1+1 together.

Poch has been PROMISED his 3 target signings before close of window.

Sounds deliciously complicated and tantalizingly sweet, Herc.

I'm guessing Levy is wanting to risk it with Martial as i'm sure he'd prefer not to pay a big fee on Zaha without recouping any of it. Martial would likely cost us nothing net with Toby going the other way.

I hope it's just Poch who has been "promised". I am a little nervous that Eriksen and Dele have not been announced. It is starting to look like they have agreed to terms but not actually signed yet...

Can’t help but read everything with a pessimistic head.

Seems like in a couple of weeks time I’m going to be reading about stuff going to the wire, that we tried but we just couldn’t get it over the line. Again.

Oh I do hope that I’m wrong and this all works out, and that most importantly Poch is left happy with both the approach that’s been taken and the final squad at the start of play..

I trust Levy. If he felt there was no budging united or if Woodward is mucking him about, Zaha would already be parading a spurs shirt. I reckon he'll come through on his promise.
