Just visited that RedCafe link. Im amazed its now the top6. When Liverpool and Utd were in it, it was only referred to as the Top4. Even the pundits referred to it as the top4 they too call it the top6.

So when the big boys fall just enlargen the group. Now i wonder if Uefa will enlargen the CL representatives from each country.

To be fair in years gone by it was always the big 6 clubs in our too division, of which we were one. It then became so skewed when champions league started that there was only ever the top 4 but now tere actually is a top 6 that can win the league. Im jusy glad we are one of the teams involved now.

Tbf it has quite noticeably changed from a top 4 to a top 6. That was the top 4 for 5 seasons out of 6, with only Everton breaking in for a short period of time, and all had been up there competing for a long time before that. They were well clear of the rest of the league in terms of finances and ability to compete in back to back seasons.

Now we have a noticeable top 6, with us and Man City having being added to the group that is well clear of the rest of the league. Nothing to take offence at.

When the premier league was formed and rights for tv shows were put out all the clubs had to vote for ITV or the newly formed sky sports.
Of the "big five" we were the only ones to vote sky.
So we were part of a "big five" back in the very early 90's.
Guess it was United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and??

I remember reading that Sugar/Spurs was the final vote. The decider. He voted yes because Amstrad would get the deal for satellite equipment.

I would say theres a top 7 Everton Liverpool Chelsea Arsenal Tottenham Man C ManU. No particular order
I would agree with that. Can only be good for the Prem. Everton, like us were historically (until Chelsea started distorting football) part of the 'big five' (Us, Man U, Everton, Arsenal and Liverpool)
