Oh fuck off. I've explained it. If Eriksen's was a fluke I'll say it. Just ket me see the fucking thing for myself first yeah ?

It's not a fluke. From the replay, you can see that the ball is hit straight at Son. What the deflection does is change the angle of flight just slightly so that Son is running "onto" the ball rather than having to check his run to receive it, which he would have had to do without the deflection.
The deflection helped, but the pass was far from a fluke.

Right. Just watched that pass again from the perfect angle. @heelspurs @cheeseman and @Oscar22. That pass was going straight to Son until Romeo's head puts it in front of Son. Definitely helped as it meant he didn't have to control it first possibly, but it was still a much better piece of Vision and execution than the half arsed cross that Sissoko looped off Redmond's arse.

Sissoko was better second half, and as I said, I'd have had Alli or Kane off before Sissoko, not sure if that pisses on your BC agenda theory, or maybe your BC agenda agenda overrides that ?

I'll leave this to the others. Pleasant evening BC.

Sonny says Hi (y)
I remembered wanting to quote back a post of someone saying Son would have fucked the ball Sissoko did in squaring to Alli for the penalty..

The hate some of the players got from people here regardless how much of effort they have put in and gotten ignored is almost childish, to say the least..

Okay, overall verdict is that that was an exemplary away performance by us and we are all delighted with the result. But that first 15 mins was worrying: they could have been out of sight before our equaliser which seemed to come out of nowhere. Fantastic game for us but I'm not having any of the "why were people wetting their pants early on?" shtick from the usual suspects because we got blitzed early doors before completely turning the game on its head.
Shame of quoting my own post notwithstanding, Poch's post match interview shows that he clearly wasn't impressed with that first 15 mins either. Great result and overall great performance, but it could quite easily have gone the other way.

From BBC's Live Thread

From the rule book

Let's have a trawl through the FA rule book then.

Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offending player is cautioned unless:

  • The offence is holding, pulling or pushing or
  • The offending player does not attempt to play the ball or there is no possibility for the player making the challenge to play the ball or
  • The offence is one which is punishable by a red card wherever it occurs on the field of play (e.g. serious foul play, violent conduct etc.)
In all the above circumstances the player is sent off.

Nathan Redmond pulled back Dele Alli so it was a red card.

Is attacking midfield not part of the midfield then?

Depends on the player but his remit and game is mostly about getting in and around the box and supporting Kane, Eriksen for example spends much more time dropping deep and getting involved in game play. Even then I wouldn't say Eriksen has scored most of his goals from AM not playing as a midfielder the way say, Lampard scored most of his.

Bingo, just watched it and said the same.

Puel says he didn't see the red card incident, then describes what happened. Need to work on your Wengerisms, mate.

But I thought if they give the pen they don't send off any more, just yellow ?

Lampard had as much freedom as Alli when he played with Makelele and Essien. Just be fucking grateful we've got a 20 year old game changer rather than carping on with semantics.

Would that be the American imitation mustard?!! Because real mustard he was not!!

The expectations of him are outrageous. Unless he is the uber-metronome, chief playmaker, goal scoring, assist making wunderkid every game, people get their knickers in a twist.

He was everywhere today and part of most good things we did. Had a couple of assists and should have had a third when Rose shanked his shot wide. That's pretty decent in my book.

People forget that if Eriksen was any better than he is, he wouldn't be with us.

Almost did a #Spursy moment tonight when we missed the penalty and hit the bar! At that point I thought the worst was going to happen! However, we pushed on and ended up with a fantastic performance against one of the best teams at home in the Premier League.

Do not forget that the Saints are very good at home only Chelsea have beaten them their. Eriksen; Sissoko, Rose and Vertonghen were all superb tonight, with Alli doing what he does best and creating chances and scoring! COYS

Oh, and I love Harry Winks! I really do... He moves the ball so quick!! I think Winks and Dier will be an awesome pair deep in the midfield..

Our most important win of the season so far if you consider the fact that we played last and all those around us won. Liverpool/City play on Saturday too so it keeps the pressure on them considering one will drop points. We can only go about our business and try and win a high percentage of our games, and we're doing that at the moment.
