Different video show that Vertonghen place hand from behind around Costa's mouth as he try to lead him away from Vorm.
There's no reaction on Vertonghen's face when alledged bite happen, so I think it's nothing to be honest.

Costa's so used to play acting that he doesn't even put his hand to the eye that was touched by Dembele :ROFLMAO:

Guys look at Costa go to,cover the wrong eye after the incident.

If he was gouged how could he instantly go to cover the wrong eye. It's laughable.

I would say it's impossible unless in reality he was not touched at all.

If you look at the eye in question in the moments after the incident it is not blinking or anything.

Again close to impossible I'm sure.

I've just watched it again. Dembele is holding Costas wrist. It looks like he stops the movement of the hand and possibly pushes it into the other eye.

Saying that I don't think Demeble got the actual eye, it looked like it was the skin just under it. He's still getting a ban though.

Costas also got hold of Demeble on his back - is he pinching him?

Would love to see the incident in real time speed again rather than slo-mo because it makes it very hard to tell what really was going on.

Everything looks worse in slo-mo

What I don't get is why every time a decision went our way, and one of their players goes bat shit crazy at a line-o or the ref, was nothing done about that?

I think we all need to accept a ban is coming here. As many have said, it clearly lacked significant force or direction as Costa didn't seem to fussed by the actual contact, more the fact that contact occured.

Sadly that's how the FA will look at it too. Unecessary/dangerous contact occured therefore it's worthy of a ban.

Just a random thought - how would a 'stop hitting yourself' scenario work from a disciplinary perspective? I feel this would almost certainly be worth a go.

I'm unsure, I think it was seen, and will be mentioned in the report.

It's a fair point - am i right in thinking if it was seen but no action was taken then it's all good, even if it features in the report? Or did they alter that for serious incidents, mass murders etc?

We want it in the report. It can only be pulled up if it's not in the report.

Dumb move by Dembele. However, it didnt look like it was a hard poke to the face/eyes. Didnt costa scream and placed his hand on the other eye?

Costa has got to be the dirtiest and ugly c*** in the premiership. Even drogba wasnt that annoying. Constantly winding people up, kicking, elbowing....

Something I thought I would NEVER say but fair play to the voice of reason............John Terry

"Players are fighting for league titles, it's emotions," said the 35-year-old former England defender.

"It boiled over, let's not get silly and start banning people. It's a London derby and the fans want to see it."

It was a daft action by Dembele but completely out of character. Frustratingly, it was more innocuous than the Torres one years back on Vertonghen, and that went completely unpunished but resulted in the rules being tightened up.

It's funny because during the match, without reading any comments on SC or anything, what I was thinking was why are they going on and on and on about an eye gouge? What it looked like to me was exactly the same type of manoeuvre that Torres made on Vertonghen a couple of seasons ago at the Lane. It was closer to the eye, but I didn't look like a jab to the eye to me - more a clutch of the face close to the eye. I thought that the Torres incident was a disgrace, so I won't make a hypocrite of myself by condoning Dembélé. If he gets a ban he deserves it (though he does seem one of the most placid guys, it was totally out of character and I do think Costa was up to summit). But if it did come to a hearing I would certainly point out to the similarity to the Torres incident and remind the hearing panel that Torres walked away from that without punishment (just because he's our player).

I'm no Rugby fan so can't comment on how it would be treated, but this appears to be no more than a light scratch of the face, near the eye. I'm not defending Dembele and think it was a stupid act to do, but it looks like he barely touched him. If he had gouged Costa's eye I think his reaction would have been more telling.

Exactly. I wouldn't even call it a scratch, more like a clutch...similar to the Torres incident, as above.

Definite eye gouge for me. Deserves a hefty punishment.

I don't think it was...more of a Torres clutch, see above.

I think Dembele knew exactly what he was doing.

Very cheap, very nasty and disappointing to see. If he gets a ban he'll deserve it.

I agree with you. Absolutely. He knew what he was doing, it was a deliberate act. I just think it was more of a clutch, like the Torres one on Vertonghen, than a jab at the eye. It was very cheap, very nasty. As was the Torres incident. Torres deserved a ban and so does Dembélé.

I am a little curious, as it seems totally out of character. Did Costa provoke him? Someone suggests it looks like he is pinching Dembélé's back.

And I was disgusted that Torres got off with that (spineless, gutless FA again, anyone???). So I'm not going to say he shouldn't be punished. Just that given the precedent set by the FA in not punishing him, I would take it is Dembélé was treated in a manner that was consistent with their previous rulings.

as someones mentioned elsewhere, every other thing that happened has to be squared off by Terrys elbow on verts, this eye thing will get the focus..

Verts did swap hands rather quickly just after the bite supposedly happened.
