I cracked that one weeks ago but A&C pleaded with me not to reveal it until he'd had his piles removed. last time I checked, they were still there. FWiW it's a terrible Cryptic that a child could have written it in crayon.

End of the day at this stage sounds like initial communication/enquiry made with the player/agent, initial green light happy to listen and thats where we are. Plus he assessing options still, its far from a done deal no where near, but we have a snip of a chance....... so peeps fingers crossed!

Alderweireld, N'Jie and possibly Illaramendi. I hope BT Sports get David Pleat on commentary for our Europa League matches.

I can't see us getting a midfielder of any quality, more likely a fairly unknown cheap alternative once the kramers/benders/illaramendis of this world laugh is out of town, it may work out but more likely to go the same way of stambouli last year, same mistakes being repeated over and over!!

There's a rather terrible symmetry in play if we get Illarramendi.

When he was unveiled by Madrid in mid-July 2013, a large number of Madrid supporters started chanting "We want Bale" during the presentation. Up until that point, Perez had appeared ambivalent about buying Bale that summer and, having already spent 62m Euros on Isco and Illarramendi, it was generally thought that Bale was a target for 2014, not 2013. From thereon in, however, Perez couldn't be seen to lose face and, within a fortnight, Zidane was giving it the old "you only get one chance" spiel.

At that point, the writing was on the wall for us. We spent £88m on six new players for the squad (alongside Paulinho who we'd already bought) and received £85m from Real Madrid. We all know what happened next.

So, as I say, if the noises are right about Illarramendi, I hope he brings us a happier future than his signing for Real did.

A lady at work just walked by my cubicle and farted. She had no idea I was here.

Back to ITK, Illamerendi would be unreal.
In reference to this 100% genuine ITK - I was to busy scrolling down my feed to see trix answer - when I opened the door on the work toilet cubicle caught a old women mid-wipe I was horrified.

Illamerendi and Berahino.

All is forgiven Danny boy if you pull it off
Maybe not all (Saha and Nelsen were particular disappointments) but my word a bloody lot would be forgiven...but it's a big IF

A poster who has no ITK history but has been posting for 7 years had some very specific info along the lines of 5-year deal for Illara agreed at £62,450 per week or something like that (from memory)

Surely that whole post was just a piss take of the '48 hours' itk?

Horrified? What sort of a bloke are you?

If ever a scenario demanded that you bash one out on the spot, that was it.

I said a little while back I had a slight guess that Illaramendi was the mystery midfielder ITKs were referring to earlier in the window. The fact it was kept under wraps was the fact Liverpool were keen on the player and would probably pay a ridiculous wage. Keeping it quiet means we might be able to agree a deal with Asier Illaramendi. I'd be absolutely delighted with someone of his quality, immense footballer.

I remember bringing him up around the time of the Audi Cup when iirc grey fox suggested an exciting new name, as the Liverpool link cropped up at the same time.

Top drawer player, low price (£14m) and probably not crazy wages. Just has levy all over it. Plus Poch would be keen which has since been confirmed by Trix.
