Ultimately for me, if we are going to bring in another wide player i really think they need to have the same potential as Lamela and Eriksen and be the final peace to our attacking midfield puzzle and i really don't believe Welbeck is on the same level as those two. He is a decent player, personally i'm not a fan but if he comes in i will back him but i really don't think he is going to be a big improvement on what we already have.

Horrendous goalscoring record, whilst playing for all conquering Man Utd...it's a no from me.

Sturridge had only 13 goals in 63 for chelsea (0.20 goals per game)

Welbeck has 20 in 90 for Man U (0.22 goals per game)

No saying he will turn out the same, but imo his record is not a deal breaker

Far too simplistic considering where he's played a lot of those games.

The bigger worry for me would be how he was started this season so far, but then United have been pretty toilet throughout the squad so far so it's hard to judge.

I think he's a much better fit to the system Poch will want to use than Lennon and Townsend, plus he gives the option of playing upfront on his own if we're in a bind.

Whilst I don't think he's a star by any means, I think he would make our squad stronger.

I wonder if Welbeck coming would mean Soldado is off
I remember one of the ITKs saying Bobby was already under Ade and Kane in the pecking order

I really never rated this guy and it always annoyed me that he keeps getting in the England team, but he offers more of a goalscoring threat then Lennon or Townsend and if Pochettino can make something of him then I'm all for it. Would also show a bit of character to go from United where everything he's probably on high wages to us where he would have a fair amount of competition

And they call us fickle...

Seriously, If he joins I will cheer him on and give him a chance, but having watched him quite a lot (I guess we have all watched Man U a lot) I have never though of him as a player that is good enough for them, or us.

Fair enough mate. I've watched a fair bit of him and he's impressed me more often than not and I do think he'd be a goof fit for the system.

Anyway, all about opinions .

I just can't move beyond the fact of how utterly stupid would they be to loan (not even make us pay) him to a rival club. It would be utter madness on their part.
If it were to be a loan we would be paying for it. I'd guess at a fee of around £2m for a season. Personally the thought of loaning a player from United makes my stomach turn though, unless it had a option to buy at a very nice price.

Don't think Wellbeck will be to replace any of our strikers. He would give us a pacy option on the left. hE would get 10-15 goals from there if given a run in the starting XI

Ferguson loved the kid and really rated him. He played multiple positions for United and was very rarely the front man, which is why his goal record is not prolific as you would expect from a striker.

LVG will be at United for a few years and will continue to strengthen. If Welbeck doesn't fit his system this year, it's not like he is going to all of a sudden rate him a year from now and want to keep him after a year at Spurs. A loan will work well. If he is a success I am sure DW and Spurs will push for a permanent move next summer, similar to how the Lukaku loan worked out for Everton.

Probably much like Mourinho & Lukaku, though if we do take him on loan, I'd much rather we agree a fee upfront.

Poor player, really hope this doesn't come to anything.

He's not a poor player though is he.

He's played nearly 100 games for Man Utd under Fergie.

He might not be your cup of tea but that doesn't make him a poor player.

Many people automatically dismissing Welbeck because he doesn't demand an astronomical fee. He actually works for a team and his work rate is fantastic! He's still relatively young which means he can improve and a loan deal would suit both parties. We're not risking shelling out 10+ million whilst we can wait on how Jay Rodriguez makes a comeback from his ACL injury.
