Well heres hoping for some better news, i wanted villa as felt rather than offering goals, i think he would add creativity, I'm not sure beneteke offers that, we can't afford to spend 4-5 weeks on the next target, then get caught with our pants down again, the longer we take to get players in the longer it is before we can decide which players can leave and is a fair few I'd like to see moved on

Remember the time we tried to sign Llorente etc and they didn't want to leave Spain either, or come to Spurs? It almost seemed like a bullshit bid at the time. This all has a familiarity about it that is worrying.

How long have we needed a top class centre forward now/goals from the side?

We've also got the first murmurings from JJ about our sales possibly having issues (again), stinky stinky familiarity.

In the next couple of weeks it'll be "have to sell before we buy" or something.

Nick Topspusman on COYS not usually ITK I dont think but a 300000+ poster so no WUM

Can't go in to details but I had some info from a very good source a few weeks ago that claimed we would sign Benteke in this window. Things change, other clubs could come in but in light of this recent news, it makes a lot of sense and I was told he wanted to come here.

And yet we have also heard that we were aware for a while this may happen and had started targeting other players... frankly, I think this is just a simple "didn't work out", we move on, we can be gutted but i don't see any reason for blame in this particular case. By all accounts we have done the right thing all along and again in moving on quickly.

Had enough of this topic now so last post from me on this particular incident.

sorry but identifying a forward should have been done last year and year before etc to now again to be scrambling around is a joke. I cannot sit and defend levy on this issue its beyond neglect now. As for the benteke rumours call me cynical but we couldnt raise above 5m for a world class striker and were expected to believe we are now in the market for a 20m+ striker erm ok..............

This all day long. Having a striker in for the pre season tour wouldve been ideal but doesnt look likely now. Imperitive we have our squad ready to rock for August 17, not 2nd September.

I understand your comment Francis, and agree that is a pertinent deadline to work to in terms of getting a striker in (to hopefully hit the ground running).

However, Paolo mentioned deadline day, not me. I was just quantifying how far away it is.

BTW, the season starts in 39 days...

And even with deadline day being so far away, it's not the fucking point. We never have our shit together in time for the season starting and waste time on on unachievable targets.

There won't be too many top class strikers with contracts running out so we'll have to pay big money, I can't see that going down easily either.

We did. He chose Spain and the CL over us. Not sure how's that anyone's fault?

Needed a top striker since selling Berba! before Berba it was Klinsmann! so going by that we will have another top striker by 2018 :LOL:
