I can categorically state that as of yesterday LFC are not interested in Caulker.

They have a list of about 5/6 targets their after right now but Caulker isn't on that list unless something has drastically changed in the last couple of days. Its the whole ex-Rodger's player thing again, which, in a lot of ways, is a fair enough argument, but not this time.

Hope that helps.

No, but it made us laugh.

Well he is only 18 and is, therefore, unlikely to break into the senior squad for another couple of seasons at least. Caulker is nearly 4 years older and isn't a regular yet. It just seems to me that DL would want to try and get someone a bit nearer the first team than Veljkovic, as promising as he is. Let's face it a lot of really promising youngsters fail to reach their expectations and to assume that he will break through would be a tad irresponsible of the club.

That was my point, if we are bringing in another CB it will be someone established and he will most likely be replacing Dawson.

Mate, King pissed all over Caulker at the age of 21.

Fair enough, I would have been about 6 at the time to I don't remember him at that age. My point was just that King probably didn't look like he would turn out as godly as he did in the end.

Caulker's excelled at all three of his loan spells and is a prodigious talent in my eyes. I think that if had a consistent run in the team in a consistent defence (as he had last year at Swansea most of the time) then he would look far better. We would be nuts to sell him.

Anyway, this is probably for another thread...

Players mature at different rates. Defenders especially don't peak until around 30 usually. Andrea Barzagli for example was a late bloomer. Jonny Evans at Man Utd looked like a terrible CB until around the age of 24, but Fergie persisted with him and now he is pretty darn solid.

I'll be off the scale mad if we sell Caulker to those bin dipping ****'s.

Best home grown player we've developed in years and people are prepared to sell him ffs. He's 21. I bet Ledley King didn't look like he was going to turn out to be as good as he did at 21. Probably had people writing him off as well.

Ledley looked like a future Tottenham captain and all round decent chap during his momma's prenatal scans.

I hope we don't sell Caulker. He haven't been bad when he gets a game right? Unless we got a insane offer for him I don't see the point of selling him.

In fact, the heights Ledders reached in about 04 were as good as it got. What we've seen for the last 8 yrs weren't his peak, for obvious reasons. His peak yrs as a player were all played with no cartilage in one knee. The injury that started it all occurred during his debut. Then we look at how Ledley played, save last season when he simply couldn't do the impossible and well... We'll never know just how good King might have been and then we think about how well he played. Mind properly fucked eh?

The dude was next level.

Sorry for hijack, I still love Ledley. Will always always be my favourite player and I still haven't seen anyone with as much natural talent play for THFC with my own eyes. Been a few to come close but nobody has matched him yet.

You do know he's 21 right?
Yep. Still a puppy in terms of CBs. He's already shown talent. We'll only know if he's eternally clumsy or whether he'll improve those aspects of his game with experience. If he does improve them then we'll have a very good CB on our hands, and already have a promising one who has provided good depth already.

He's under contract for a while yet anyway so no need to panic either way. Hopefully he developes further, and there's no reason to think he won't and when the time comes to sign on for longer, he decides to.

Unless you can prove you know Brendan Rodgers personally and know whats going on in his head I dont think you can "categorically state that as of yesterday LFC are not interested in Caulker".

There is a difference between wanting a player and us selling a player.

Just depends on how you read Caulkers response.
Trying to keep it quiet or just to stop the story that Liverpool want him as he is happy here

Selling Caulker is ridiculous unless it's a crazy offer. He's made the odd blunder but who doesn't? If we're selling centre backs then it has to be Daws surely. Caulker needs two more years at Spurs for me until we can make any decisions on him. If he develops well, give him a new deal. If he's showing no signs of progression by that stage, then consider selling him. He'll still be only 23.

I highly doubt that but I would have considered selling for that, yes. My point was the suggestion of us actively looking to shift him is absurd.
