I don't have a problem with people being disappointed. We're used to having mental deadline days (esp. when we had Harry). BUT, the January window is not the time to go out and spunk 20m on a striker. Prices are inflated in Jan. Everyone knows it. Last summer we got Ade, which was a good result considering the fantastic season he had on loan for us. It's unfortunate that he's been poor this year.

However, we are still 4th, and I think with Defoe's enforced layoff that will occurr when Ade gets back - Ade and Holtby could be a fantastic combo. I also think Holtby has the ability to bring the wingers (arguably our most attacking threat) into the game more.

So, yeah, it's not great that we didn't get a striker, but it's hardly the end of the world.

Interestingly Talkshite's round-up guy has just said that we offered £18m for Damiao, not £13m as was first suggested.

He's not even worth !8 let alone expecting us to pay more. Glad we didn't go mental.

To be fair Cundy farted that beckham was wrong to give his wages to charity ''cos it feels wrong" so I wouldn't really trust their shite

No problem! Bring Kane back.
And you cannot pretend that you'd not like improvements on Defoe or Dempsey.
Preaching to the converted, buddy.

Improvements on Defoe and Dempsey would be nice. Getting improvements--or at any rate significant improvements--is neither easy nor cheap. I'm hardly JD's biggest fan, but currently there are only four strikers ahead of him, and only RvP and Suarez a long way ahead.

So has Kane come back ?

Don't think so. Not been announced anywhere.

I hope we give Shaq Coulthirst a slot on the bench to be honest. Some youthful enthusiasm might not be a bad thing and the fans won't expect too much but will back him pretty well unlike what happened with Obika.

You know 57. I would have Suarez above the rapist everytime. I honestly think he is the best all round player ( bar messi, Ronaldo) in the world.

His work rate is astonishing

I can't be fucked to trawl back through pages of suicidal fuckwits, forgive me.

By all accounts, Seville were quoting €20m for Negredo ?

Who woukld you have said is good enough to be an upgrade on Adebayor/Defoe but deemed shit enough by his club to be loaned out ? Serious question.

Some info will be duff, but some was just informing us of interest or attempts that failed. Some comes with an agenda or emotional attachment. The problem is the emphasis and inability to emotionally rationalise what they should know and understand.

What happens is we get ITK saying we are trying to negotiate a deal for a perceived quality target. We get 50 pages of jizmic lemmings proclaiming Levy's a god. Then we get the "our bid didn't match their valuation" ITK and we get another 50 pages of suicidal lemmings wanting to take Levy over the cliff with them.

I didn't read either and think he's a god or a demented Arfur Daily on steroids. Just a football chairman trying to do his job. I didn't feel elated based on the first tranche of ITK and I didn't feel suicidal with the second.

I personally think he'd be a dick if he risked the club I love's stability by continually paying over the risk/reward potential odds. Maybe I'm in a minority, but I just don't get why many more don't get it and get so emotional every window.

If we'd have signed a pair of ****s like Lisandro and Diame the majority woukld have been placated. It's crazy. Most punters haven't even seen Leandro play a decent 90 minutes of football.

Can you please go and copy and paste this into the 30 different mug-fueled threads in Spurs Chat which are threatening to take over the place.

As for your theory as to why so many people don't get it, couple of reasons:

1 - Lots of kids on here these days. Yes there's the whole football manager thing which seems to make lots of people mental, but it's also just general childishness from people who actually are children. To be expected, and an inevitable consequence of a growing forum, unfortunately.
2 - There are a lot of stupid people in the world.
3 - Quite a few of the above are Spurs fans. I've been listening to Talksport all night and the supposed Spurs supporters they've had on there have been difficult to understand through their cleft lips and dragging knuckles. I heard the phrase 'Levy out' and 'we didn't buy a striker, it's A DISGRACE!' at least twice each.

The price might be absurd, but presumably we were well aware of it and have been for ages. I'm presuming they came back to us hence the low bid but whether or not this was likely to proceed could have been determined in the space of a 30 second phone call, instead it appears we spent half the day 'doing something'. I say: waste of time, what was the point?
Your second point is just semantics.

Yes, it appears we spent half the day 'doing something'. For all anyone on SC knows, discussions could have been going on since the summer. But hey, if an ITK hasn't said something's happening, nothing's happening, right?

How's that for semantics?

I'm not sure you can credit AVB with Bale, Sandro, dear Ade, Lloris or even Holtby.

I will be honest mate. As much I would like further discourse with you I'm a little bit drunk and won't do justice to the convo. Tbc etc.

I think you are an AVB fan too but I will say levy has dropped a major bollock today.

Time will tell. But catches win matches and goals win games.

This has been a wretched window for us despite shipping Jenas and the clown and getting Lewis.

There was a major fundamental required and it was failed. The fact that this was the third, or even fourth time of asking says it all to me.

Money is not the issue because levy bought all the shares off good people fr peanuts in the belief that we would compete.

Time will tell.

Literally doesn't make any sense - you're referring to us not buying the striker we seem to so badly need.

We did - Adebayor. You just want another one.

we're walking a tightrope with our striker situation. If everyone stays healthy and in form we could get 4th, but it will be very difficult. If Levy can balance the books turning a great team into a good one, what has he accomplished?

If Levy doesn't balance the books he turns a good team into one that doesn't exist.

That doesn't make any sense. It's nothing to do with trust. Cundy was being a total prick but that's his job - he's the evening Durham and is on there to say stupid stuff in the opinions sections. And he was chewed out for it non-stop.

This was from a journo from the Times they use for their transfer reporting, in a factual section.

You said 'a major fundamental was required, and it failed'.

You were referring to a striker, not Damiao. How could one specific bloke be regarded as a 'major fundamental'? Are you saying if we'd got David Villa you'd be disappointed because Damiao was the one we 'required'?

No, you were referring to getting a striker in, and saying that we'd failed to do so. But we got Adebayor, so that's just not true.

Ticks a fair few boxes actually. Obfuscation primarily.
