Not at all to be quite honest. Siggy's what I'd describe as a give-n-go type who plays way more in the attacking half of midfield with an eye for goals and he will attack the defense by trying to go for runs off the ball. One thing that makes him a bit different from a lot of his types is that he's a fantastic free kick specialist.

Dembele on the other hand is more of a central midfielder that can go on long runs using his pace/dribbling to hopefully break down the defense and then make a pass to setup a chance. Dembele's looking more for the assist or the pass that sets up the assist. He's pretty well-rounded bar his shooting ability.

I just watched the video posted in redcafe of his match against Man U

Man Utd fans seem to have good grip on football in general, and also knowledge and fair appraisal on our team...

The Gooners simply haven't a clue

A couple of them are talking sense to be honest. The ones who think that it's a fair price, someone made a long post with very decent points. Now, the majority sound like idiots. But Arsenal fans are not all bad.

Very clued-up fans - they know their football. Have been spot on about many things on their forum over the seasons and they have had many good words to say about us in the last 3 years. They see our potential.

Totally agree, just reading through their Dembele thread. Most of them, knowledgeable as well regarding our squad, think he's a cracking signing for us - and not in a patronising way whatsoever. See him making us considerably stronger.

With the above video in mind here is a discussion regarding Dembele's position/positioning at OT on Saturday (i agree entirly with the second poster claiming Dembele can operate from deep (In other words he could certainly play alongside Sandro, and would be the one to offer more playm making ability) :

Everyone knows Dembele is a striker converted to an attacking midfielder, right?

Yes he's a good player and does put himself about but surely not what we need.

We need someone who can read a game like Carrick and be in the right place at the right time, not just a blood and thunder type.

I think your assessment of him is gravely wrong. Look at the below video for evidence of just how wrong and pay special attention to the position he is holding in relation to where the rest of his central midfielders are.

He will very often play as the deepest midfielder of 3 and although he can still be pushed into an ACM or outside forward role he can also do exactly the type of screening role Carrick does for us albeit with a little less defensive skill and more offensive playmaking ability. He should even be able to play alongside Carrick

I'm not sure about considerably stronger considering who he is replacing, but at least he's a like for like player. Modric is technically better and has better balance and control, but Dembele certainly holds the ball well and is stronger. I just hope we see him playing the defence splitting passes from deep like Modric used to do.

I've always been a bit of a pessimist when it comes to our prospects of quality signings in the transfer market. However, the signing of Moussa Dembele has me completely over the moon.

Dembele and Lloris are complete game-changers, guys.

I have said for two weeks now that if we could only sign two players, it would be these two. They fill the two major weaknesses in our starting XI, and if we can wrap up just these two transfers, while keeping Van der Vaart, then I truly believe we will contend for the title.

Let me re-iterate though, Rafa must not be sold. He is the soul of our club, and I think we should hold onto him for one more season so he can cement his legacy with the glory of a top 4 finish and some silveware. Unless he is ultra desperate to move (which it doesn't sound like by his own comments), he should not be sold. There are virtually no suitable replacements for him out there that truly attainable. Dzagoev is the only one, and CSKA is unreasonable to deal with when it comes to transfer fees. Sigurdsson, while a fine player and prospect, is nowhere near good enough to replace Rafa altogether.

Sign Lloris and Dembele, and keep Rafa.. And roll on top 4!

Very much hoping that all this positive chatter about getting deals done in the next few days actually transpires. If DL and his team of happy helpers can get Willian, Dembele and Lloris wrapped up by Thursday with funds from previous transfers/kitty. Then a friday splurge could be on the cards with a bit of money raised through outgoings (GDS, Jenas, VDV? Defoe? Gomes, Bentley, Hudd) Trimming down the wage expenditure, cheeky loan or a big bid for another frontman who can play the system better than JD. Not suggesting all those will leave but if VDV, JD and say one other go that is gonna be a serious wedge of cash for the wheelbarrow. Though 25 years following spurs tells me not to get excited, come saturday we could have a serious squad on our hands if things go our way and we take a chance or two.

Having watched...ahem... a video on a website., I think it's fair to say that Dembele is at least versatile.

He also waltzed through an entire defence before scoring which impressed me somewhat :)

CHECK OUT THIS FIRST GOAL:

We're gonna love him.

As long as we can gel them quickly and start getting results I'll be a happy man.

Good piece of business if we get Lloris and Dembele for the reported 25/27million, happy with that. But to strenghten the squad from last season we really need the striker we all so crave, wont be easy and really will call on all DL's nous in the market, but if Ade was to get injured we would really be up the creek without a paddle. Imperative if we dont get this striker that VDV is not allowed leave, as he is the obvious one with goals in hm. While I love VDV if we got the money being touted for him and use it towards the like of , dare I say it, Falcao/Cavani etc then I could possibly get over it................I think.

Got to say a class player always looks like he has time on the ball and everytime he gets it he has ages

Best thing of all is the amount of goal threat we now carry in midfield....

Gylfi Dembele VDV and Bale all have scorching shots on them.

However I'll reiterate for hundreth time I still would like another striker.

Also if we get him; I hope Willian is a goal throat (his stats suggest otherwise) but is equally as decent at creating chances as Lennon is (gotta give him credit he's vastly improved)
I agree with this a lot. It will even create more poaching chances for our current strikers. But what do I know??

Now that is a footballer possessed. The guy is always in perpetual motion. Super exited by this signing.

To me, it looks like he's moving at a different speed than anyone else. And you can tell by the way defenders approach him they are apprehensive and not really sure what he's going to do next. I'm so excited to see how he does with a squad full of talent.
