Not to piss on anyone's cornflakes, but are they not both on a clean fortune at Shaktar?

Willian is an exciting player, not seen as much of Fernandinho, is he central?

I'd love us to sign these two, especially WILL.I.AN. Only thing that makes me scratch my head is...wouldn't he be on oil inflated, high wages at Shakhtar?

I can kinda see Ade's point.
He had, say a four year deal at City on stupid wages, but those wages were guaranteeing his charidee 50k per week for those 4 years. Ade finds himself leaving after 2 and his charidee stands to lose 2 years worth of 50k per week.
Ade knows that no other club would agree to that sort of wage but sees it that City are spunking cash left, right and centre, so why shouldn't they honour their commitment to his charity.
In a way, I don't blame him.

As for us sitting outside the sweetshop and letting the rich kids shoot their loads first?
It wouldn't be the first time that has been rumoured to be the case and it would make sense. All the fat kids do is drive the prices up for the rest of us.

But man city did not make a commitment to his charity. He did.

If you move jobs your old employer doesn't take over your bills.

Not so sure, Willian went there as an 18 year old for 12m with not much football under his belt on a 5 year contract. I pressume he's renewed that since but it's possible he's not on a kings ransom. The other lad is a little older but not as well known so may not be too expensive. I'd think we'd struggle to get a work permit for Fernandinho due to his lack of Brazil internationals - Willian may also be a struggle.

Fernandinho has had 5 senior caps in the last year.

They both became internationals in 2011.

It isn't so much a 'work permit' any more, the FA have to endorse the player based on his ability, nationality and international selection. Based on:

1. A player must have played for his country in at least 75% of its competitive “A” team matches he was available for selection, during the 2 years preceding the date of the application;

2. The player’s country must be at or above 70th place in the official FIFA World Rankings when averaged over the 2 years preceding the date of the application; and

3. The application for a GBE (Governing Body Endorsement) must be made by a club in membership of the Premier League or Football League and the player will only play for clubs in membership of those leagues.

I think they'd both qualify.

I do think it's positive we're looking at these types of players though, both have technical ability and creative/attacking flair which is something we've been lacking a bit in midfield for a while.

Not sure we'd need both and no idea what their wages are like, but if a deal can be done for either then i'd be happy as long as the price was sensible.

One goal in almost 15 games does not scream, 'spend 25million Euro's on me'! (re Willian).

If there is anyone we should be looking at at Shakhtar, it's Douglas Costa.

Fernandinho is 27, which seems older than most of our targets.

Brazil play about 1000 games each year because of their contract with Nike. Every Tom, Dick and Carlos seems to get a game for them.

They played 12 in 2011. They have played 6 this year. Hyperbole is the best thing ever.

Some of Europes top clubs have been linked with these players from Shakhtar. I'm not sure why they have never made that next move as yet, but from what i've seen of them they look ideally suited to the style of football AVB likes to play. I'm guessing they would cost a pretty penny though.

I'm not sure Fernandinho is the player to replace Modric though. I like Willian a lot and he can play on the wing or behind the striker which is the versatility we need in attack.

The thing is under the points- based system, the ultimate arbiter as to who gets a Tier 2 WP is the now the FA and not the Govt.
The old 75% benchmark isn't applied as strictly.

If they've been in Europe for a while, might they have dual nationality via naturalisation?

Really? Bale, Lennon, VDV and Modric disagree.

If it's Russia, not much help wrt EU movement. More likely to have some vague Portuguese/other Euro acenstry which could help. Besides which, I doubt either would have to worry. They'd get shuffled through the hearing.
