Right, i've a confession to make. I thought Lurpak was a brand of Bacon. Turns out I was wrong :(

I'm such a silly ****

Anyway, Forget Lurpak. Lurpak doesn't come into it. Lurpak was an invention of my imagination and a mistake on my part.

I'm really sorry. Honestly, i'm really really sorry. Can we put it down to my only having 2 hours sleep last night?

Forgive me? You know I love you.

Don't worry mate we all have those special (in the olympic way) days... We all still love you x

Btw did you mean Danepak mate?

Realistically to be looking to splash this sort of cash early doors, we must surely have some deals lined up for outgoings? Perhaps Modric's exit is further down the line than we thought, which might be why we're (maybe!) going in for Eriksen?

Or we have been trying to line deals up like this for the last couple of windows and just haven't been able to for what ever reason, so we are using the money now?

I can't see Ajax sanctioning the sales of both Vertonghen AND Eriksen this summer.

We all know Vertonghen wants to come here and only has a year left so that forces Ajax's hand a little.

Eriksen has stated in the past he's happy to learn at Ajax and, if my memory is correct, wasn't too keen on the PL? He's playing CL football and would cost at least our record transfer fee.

If Bacon means Vertonghen is (finally) done then I'll be delighted.

With Huddlestone coming back from injury, the emergence of the 4-2-3-1 formation with Sandro and Parker as probably sitters and the emergence of Jake to cover, Eriksen would be a splendid signing to replace Luka if he left. Would cost half of what Luka would be sold for and for all of Luka's immense possession and foresight in starting a move, Eriksen will have the better goals to games ratio.

With the spare money, get Remy or Leandro sorted and we are off and running.

I read the post in the ITK thread and I thought to myself "I'm sure lurpak is butter and not bacon"....

Anyway, you have already successfully started a Eriksen to Spurs rumour with it :ROFLMAO:, can't wait to read that on the Dailymail website in the morning

Also, just thinking to myself, you wouldn't fly out just to try and complete a deal for a guy who has already visited the lodge and the ground and agreed personal terms, would you? I mean surely, a few conference calls and an agreement over the phone. There has to be more than Vertonghen about Levy AND Eales' visit to Amsterdam. Why both of them? Why not just Levy?

I would love to be wrong but my guess is that this more likely to be DL and Eaves "bringing home the bacon" - i.e. Vertonghen. If the fee has to be negotiated, it makes sense to do it face to face. After all, it does't take long to get there.

Would love it to be Erickson as well but I think that is wishful thinking

Eriksen would be a great Modric replacement at a good price too. The thing with Ajax players is they blood them young so even if you sign a 21 year old from Ajax, they've generally been in/around the first team for a few seasons.

I do sincerely doubt we could sign both though, Ajax don't need to sell Eriksen unlike Vertonghen is last year of contract.

Levy and Eales going out is just to negotiate the fee with Ajax I presume, these things are always better/easier/more productive face-to-face. (Case and point how we signed Luka Modric from Zagreb)

There are a million and one phrases that POTL could have concocted to cryptically meander round the fact it's a done deal. Why pick that one?

Can someone tell me why bacon means danish?

Wouldn't that be like if Potl said he went golfing, that we all assume we're signing someone scottish? Reading into it too much imho.

I think the indication to bacon / danish is more than just a comment about brioning home the bacon, lurpak = danish, bacon = danish as there is more than one reference im leaning towards erikesen link, plus we know we have looked at him befiore and he does seem to be highly courted.

True. Wasn't that just Levy that went out though?

Because he likes screwing with people? It is strange though, he said last week that the deal was pretty much agreed - why the cryptic now?
