And further apologies for that last apology. It seems, due to Talkshowhost86's professionalism and unerring diligence (shurely shome mishtake), no apology is necessary. So I sincerely apologise for that.

It does add up. Most 30m+ players want wages of 100K which we can't afford. the transfer fees are not the problem it's the wages.

Buying 4 players of 10m as a replacement for Modric would not make our team stronger at all.

That's not what I was driving at, you think the club has a starting balance of zero with what we've spent of late?

We got him for £16m, there are other players who actually probably do want to play for us (if we can have a bit accepted and follow through with it without arsing about)...would you be so against Modric leaving and say, Diarra, Adebayor and a couple of other big names coming in?

If we don't get the names to show ambition in now, Luka's off anyways at some point and it's unlikely we'll see the best of him. Act now and buy to show ambition or act now to sell and get the players in the manager wants/needs...it's plain Luka doesn't want to be here anymore.

Let's not forget how critical getting into the CL this season is. It's all getting to be a bit of a saga tbh.

Me too -I am very pleased to read your stuff.I only hope they sign ADE tomorrow to play him on monday as I think we will win with him.

He would have to come off the bench, no preseason and no decent training of late.

Good post yidio, any clues as to outgoings? Seems like a lot hinges on these.......

The general consensus of who's available is right. I'd still expect Hutton, Bentley, Gio and Palacios to all go. Then I'm hoping Crouch, Jenas and Bassong join them, but it's looking unlikely. Combination of poor transfer fees, low wages on offer and a reluctance to leave the 'Appy 'Arry brigade by the looks of it.

Probably not chat for in here...but it intrigues me...

Do you Mods work full time as well as monitoring this forum?? Surely doing this takes up a massive amount of your time?

(Apologies as you've inevitably been asked this before, and if there's a part of the forum where you guys talk about this then please direct me that way...ta)

So that supposed Chelsea massive announcement of signing Modric was infact.... Lukaku.

Well that was a surprise.

Modric is not going anywhere, listen to POTL, listen to peanut, listen to storts, listen to yidio.

Listen to Daniel Levy - "In respect of Luka Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea Football Club or any other club."

ValYid is really reliable then?

If ValY says a deal is done, it IS done, you can be sure of that. Unfortunately, today he said the Adebayor deal is nearly done which, in almost every way that matters, is identically equal to NOT done.

Sorry, no idea. Not even sure if that has been agreed? I'm assuming he'd still have to take a pay cut though, even if won the league this season!

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect him to take a pay cut. I don't thin he was at 180K at Arsenal. More likely something like 80-90K. He can not expect his next club to pay him the money City are paying him now. No one can pay him this money ( a couple of clubs only can). So, if he wants to play then he needs to be reasonable about that.

I think City will be sorry for the wages they pay in a year or two. Especially if they don't with the Premiership by then. The owners will expect it and will want new world class signings. Current players sitting on 150-180K won't be willing to take a pay cut and leave. On the other hand, very very few clubs can buy from City and keep the players on their wages.

Re. Disconosebleeds ITK, I really can't see any reason why we'd be entertaining interest in Walker from QPR. He has already spent half a season on loan at a better PL side, has been called up to the England squad, and has regularly been touted as our (and England's) future first choice RB. Cannot see it happening, least of all with a tinpot second rate club like QPR.

I know I'm not at Loftus Road right now, and I certainly wasn't yesterday. But if Kyle Walker was there discussing a loan move, I will quit ITK forever, because it would make my source null and void. As far as i know, Walker is considered to be a fantastic player, who we're hoping will be our number 1 right back over the course of the season.

Yidio's ITK is interesting.

I happen to be a bit ITK on Harry's court case, he went to a firm of solicitors of a friend before settling for his current cheaper sols! The worked used was "fucked".

thanks yidio, the four you mention to go are 'musts' & its good that it seems likely that they will leave. The others, personally it wouldn't be the end if they stayed (even until January) as long as it doesn't mean we can't sign someone in their place.

Yes I would because he is irreplacble as a talent. It's only really in the last 18months that he has started to fulfill his potential.

If we tried to replace him it would either be with an established world class player who we probably couldn't afford the wages of. Or it would be a young player with potential that we would have to wait 2 or 3 seasons before they blossomed.

You cannot replace Modrics craft and vision easily. Diarra and Adebayor are being earmarked to play in a settled team alongside Modric not instead of him.

Besides for the millionth time we simply cannot sell to Chelsea. We are closer to them now than ever before making them stronger would be the worse decision Levy ever makes and probably one of the last.

I don't think it makes it 'all rubbish' but I'd be very surprised if we were thinking about Walker leaving in any capacity.

100% agree, beside who we left with if Hutton goes..........Charlie?

Hang on, didn't we want to sign Eboue :bang:
