Why? VDV is effectively the replacement forward if he is going to be one of the front 2.

We'll sign a striker, but whether it is before or after Pav leaves I think it doesn't matter too much.

I thought the generally accepted theory was VDV is Keanes replacement

Ok...we now know that the sulky lesbian/one of the best strikers in the world - Senor Torres, has a release clause of £50 mill...anyone else think this is worth a whip-round?!

How do we know?

Update, found it on bbc gossip!

Pav for £13 million and then Forlan on loan with an option to buy? That would be a great bit of business that even Levy would be proud of.

Release clauses aren't legally binding in England - they are only recognised in Spain and Portugual in fact.

Yes indeed. Keane has been playing so deep since his return that VDV is his replacement. Nicely it also means that VDV plus 3 others means we'd have 3 and a half strikers rather than 4, as he can play the midfield role as well as the forward role - more flexibility is a good thing.

Sounds like Fabiano is on his way then, us or Inter or even Brazil still possibly on the cards - does time well with the Pav goner info though!

How can Ivan Rakitic, a midfielder (this season even mainly defensive oriented) be regarded as a replacement for Fabiano?

That was my thinking too. VDV + Defoe + Crouch + ?

Unless there has been a huge turnaround and Keane is staying and expected to play, we'd have to replace Pav or else leave ourselves 3 players competing for 2 positions - which simply isn't enough.

I dont think it would be worth it.

I can see him leaving though if not before Monday then definitely in the summer. Why else would Liverpool release that they turned down a bid?

They obviously want a bit more cash and making Man City aware of the situation so that they come in and trump Chelsea and there's no way we could compete with them...even if we did have a whip round!

Bollocks, i didn't even check to see who he was, i assumed the OP knew he was a striker.

In that case, nothing to see here.

yeah thrusting other people... they always let you down

On another note, just saw that Dario Cvitanich returned to Ajax after his loan spell in Mexico, where he scored 10 goals in smth like 20 games. Dont know if the loan ended or Ajax recalled him, if they recalled him it surely would mean Suarez is closer to leaving?
