Anyone who doesn't think we need this fella who can btw play Rwb hasn't watched our games this season, or has but intoxicated or isn't really switched on tactically.
Our whole game and shape would go to another level if we upgraded the Rwb position which ffs is vital when you play with wing backs.
Emerson is a decent RB, Doherty poor and out of frame , Spence I like but Conte doesn't seem ready to play him.

My issue is that we were 2 short in mid-July and for whatever reason haven't been able to finish the job. Granted this has likely been caused by mixed messages from Bastoni/Zaniolo's agents and clubs, and Conte's preferences. Hopefully Paratici can pull something out of the hat today.

End of the day I'm just desperate for us to succeed and I think an extra quality player today could be all the difference over this crazy season.

If that's the case then I'm cool with that. Keeping him is vital to us being competitive IMHO.

If he's turning down alternatives now I just hope he doesn't rant about lack of depth if we have a bad spell.

I certainly think he suits our system very well, I've been impressed with the improvement that Emerson has made but I do think he is not best suited to Conte system. I thought Emerson would really suit Athleti but it appears they've switched to a back 3 now also. I really think Carassco would be a fantastic addition to the squad in the same way Perisic is where it allows for us to have quality available over multiple positions.

Look it’s not my money but given what we have at RWB and lack of cover at RWF (in the way Conte wants to play I.e. not really Moura), I say pay the release clause. Really could be the difference between top four and not and progressing in CL. Both of which would cover us overpaying by say £20m

Let's hope this is the case of the club playing their cards so close to their chest than none of the journos have any exclusivity yet. Which fits with what Trix has alluded to.

I'm not really sure where all this confidence Carrasco could be a 'world class' RWB comes from. He's barely played on the RW in his career, let alone as a RWB. Maybe Conte has had that conversation with him but one source said he doesn't like playing anywhere on the right.

The problem with paying the release clause is that the transfer fee would have to be paid up front and in full. Not many clubs pay 50m one go although the Goons did for Partey so it's not completely unfeasible.

If we could sell Doherty and Moura, or loan them both out snd get in Carrasco I think our forward line and defensive options improve while trimming the squad. Seems like Atleti have no interest in selling for less than his buyout clause though and I can’t see us paying 51m for him at this point

I might be wrong but I don’t think it is a case of have to pay it upfront, I think the selling club has the right to demand it upfront but they may also accept a different structure of payment.

It doesn't matter a great deal anyway. We could do with a left winger to challenge Son. Richarlison should be the striker cover who would happen to cover the flanks on occasion. Even so, Richy looked capable playing on the right last night so we'd have a lot of options.

Pretty sure Luis Diaz is a similar profile of player so Carrasco is clearly of interest to us imo.
