Who would be the biggest loss to our team if Madrid came calling in the summer?

But that's sort of the point isn't it?

As good as they are Kane and Alli are not the best players in their position in the world. Given their age and length of contract their transfer would be huge.

Real Madrid are not exactly known for developing young talent. They pay for the best and want them in their prime.

I can't see them putting in a world record bid, which is what it would take, to buy Alli.

My point is they pay a premium for the players they buy as I agree they buy players in their prime. They arent "known" to wait for a player to run down their contract to buy them ..... so the point i was trying to make that it does not matter if they just signed a new contract...if madrid want a player they will go for it as we saw with bale etc

Kane. The heart and soul of our club would be ripped out and nothing would stem the bleeding.
This. I would argue that players like Eriksen and Alderweireld are more important to the way we play, but they can be replaced. Kane, with his background, simply cannot.

Pochettino probably.

But you if we ever cash in on Kane I might stop watching football forever.

Alli really wouldn't go down a treat at Real. Imagine the reaction when his first 10 touches were misplaced passes or dribbles that end with a dive? They are the sort of fans who won't be swayed by touch 11, a 25 yard volley in to the top corner!

Player wise, Eriksen. We've actually proved we can cope with just about anyone else out, we've coped without Kane, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Lloris, Rose, Walker, Dembele - but there is absolutely no one who could replicate what Eriksen does for us, there aren't many players in this league - or other leagues - that bring the same hybrid melange of the creativity and productivity of an attacker, the metromicity of a central midfielder and who also cover more ground than anyone else in the team too.

Tea lady in the players' lounge.
Norah I think she's called.
Bakes her own biscuits to her grandmother's secret recipe.
Irreplaceable
There would be a player riot
and complete disruption for months.
And her hairdresser is where I get all my ITK from.

Like it or not, this question is based on losing an FA Cup Semi Final and the reaction from the media, which has seen a clear targeting of players in our squad for destabilisation.

They want gossip this summer and it seems we are the target.

The question I would ask is would it really be any different if we won the league or the FA Cup?

The reason a player will want to leave us is money. If we keep this team together we will be challenging for major honours for years to come so it's about cash if it's about anything.

So if we win the league the situation is no different.

What we are is clear. We are a club for hungry, ambitious players who want to grow at our club and be part of a project that, itself, has developed ridiculously in only 2 years. Pochettino and Levy have repeated this mantra so many times and almost all of the players have this season recommitted to it.

I think the stories are driven by a media hungry for transfer gossip, and desperate to get a few sagas ready prior to the summer, even if they are purely fabricated.

The reaction from our fans is pretty knee-jerk and unreflective of the great situation we find ourselves in.

Kane for me. Can certainly see the argument for others, and we coped decently without him. But still...

a) He's Mr. Tottenham
b) He'd cost the most to replace and our striker buying doesn't instil confidence, we grow em instead.

If we do lose one or two players I don't think it will affect our league position that much. We are consistent well drilled flat track bullies.

We have players coming through and can use the money to get new blood.

The pressure is not only from the media .
Even our own fans are fascinated by the prospect of new shiny signings.
Though less than before certainly.
Signings are always clickbait in the media.
I know from my blog
and I try not to play that game, tempting as it is.
But it is not what we are about currently
though it is hard for some to break the habits of a lifetime.

Kane as our talisman would be the most damaging to the 'Project'
and the most disappointing to me personally.
Dele is irreplaceable as the wild card in the pack.
Eriksen and Toby the most key losses.
But this is a team ethic at work
and any loss might spark an exodus.
