Lovely turn of phrase in that last post
"I really hope the Spuds catch the robber-baron, bauble-boys on the other side of the city"
Made me chuckle.

Post-match from The Hornet's Nest:

We were always going to lose this heavily today, especially with Kaboul, Britos, Prodl, Behrami, Capoue & Deeney all missing from the starting 11 - you need your full string out against opponents of their quality.

/QUOTE]

Hmmm.......(n)

Most of those played in the game at Vicarage Road and yet we still managed to put 4 past them

How many Utd players get into the Spurs team?

De Gea just about, Pogba when on form....Valencia would make the squad. That it?

Not sure they'd even swap managers.

De Gea and Pogba. Maybe Mkhitaryan when he's on form. Reckon that's it.

Not sure Valencia would get in the squad tbh - they already have 2 superb right backs.

Would love a 50/50 split, swap managers at half time, alternate who does first half by each game.....

Red and white shirt bit like Croatia...

Would travel the world to see them play, what a team, the pomp of London the can do attitude of Manchester, literally Ian Browns Manchesters beach, a glorious side made up of hot young prospects and older heads, hand shakes and amalgamation...Barbour jackets and adidas trainers, flat jaunty caps with pearls and buttons, the spirit of hoddle, the Ghost of Best...in almost tears thinking about.
Bring J J Defoe home,
World Cup winners within a year
The pride of England
The c**k of the North

De Gea
Valencia Alderwotsits Vertonghan Rose
Pogba Dembele
Eriksen Alli Martial
Zlatan

Valencia / Walker and Zlatan / Kane have hardly anything in between them. Just needed to get some Utd players in there tbh.....

......what have we become?

A 36 year old Zlatan over Kane

This place is turning into RAWK.

That's just the first page of seven....

Couple more from the Utd thread that @ljinko888 linked to

"Alright mate. You keep fighting the good fight trying to convince yourself that a team who have finished above United for 3 of the last 4 seasons and are currently 14 points ahead of us aren't better all over the park.

Whatever helps you sleep at night."

And my favourite

"De Gea. Maybe.

Other than that, none.

Tottenham are better than United in every single position on the pitch by a country mile, which will be confirmed when they hold us down and run a f**king train on us at their big 'final game at white hart lane' jamboree.

How f**king depressing is that."

Alli is in the Frank Lampard Thomas Muller (Bayern M) type of player...whereby Alli's game is based around goals and assists.

Having said that I feel Alli is unique and imo could play the Eriksen or Modric role but at the moment is much more deadly in current position.

I think Pochettinho deserves massive respect for identifying Alli's strength very quickly and played him.

Rawk before and during the weekend games:

Not terribly bothered about Spurs as I think we'll get top four regardless of whether they keep their place in it or not.

Kane on the bench for Spurs. Why can't other teams have our luck with injuries

Spurs had Kane and a few defensive injuries for several games. Didn't phase them.

How did Janssen miss that?!
lmao.gif

Christ Janssen is shite. Worst signing of the season by a mile.

Moussa Sissoko is the worst and had two teams willing to pay loads for him.

Kieran Trippier is the best backup full-back in the Premier League by a mile.

Rather Trent :cautious:

Not at this point. Has potential to be very, very good but I wouldn't take him ahead of Trippier at the minute.

I am surprised that Janssen is only 22. I thought he was 26-27, well he moves much older.
I suppose there is a chance he can get better given his age but he only had 1 good season in AZ, baffled why Spurs went for him

Dele Goal

What. A. Goal.

Man, Dele Alli is single handedly keeping them in Top 4, they wouldn't be close if he was not playing there.

Gerrardesque goal. He's having a fantastic season, perhaps POTY.

Great goal, a brilliant talent aint he.

Cue the 'why didn't we sign him' posts

Remember when some posters on here said he's just like Tim Cahill?
lmao.gif
lmao.gif

That goal should be ruled off for that celebration

Why exactly don't we try and buy Delle Alli?

Who was it that fucked up his transfer to us again? I want names godamnit!!

"Cue the 'why didn't we sign him' posts" Wont be long. Him and Spurs are absolutely idolised by loads on here. And here we go, the usual bellends arrive.

Reckon Spurs could still win the league. Probably rather Chelsea did it.

Alli will go down in history as one of our biggest mistakes. A Liverpool fan aswell.

"Man, Dele Alli is single handedly keeping them in Top 4, they wouldn't be close if he was not playing there."
The other chap on 19 goals isnt half bad either. They have a very good all round side, hardly any superstars but so damn good players that Poch has made even better. Annoying as they are it's admirable the way they have done it. Just my opinion really feel free to tell me to do one

We have not got Alli but we should have does not have the same ring to it

He nigh on averages a goal every other league game. At 20. That's insane.

The boy may still play for us yet one day. :poop:

Spurs pissing it.

Dier is stunningly good. Like Makelele defensively and Gerrard offensively.

We're playing for 3rd place now. They're going to be 8 points ahead, have no Europe to contend with and have Kane coming back. Second is just about wrapped up for them.

Ridiculous. Dele's game isn't quite Gerrard level. But as you say only 20. Hate it spurs have got him. Full on revenge for us getting Suarez ahead of them.

I don't know if Alli is this good or the way Spurs play make him look even better? Wonder if he would have the same success with us.

Great hit from Son. They're dishing out a severe kicking here.

Remarkable goal, remarkable club.

Spurs are a great side far better then us, if they didnt have that blip before Christmas they'd be going for the title.

Spurs is playing like we did earlier this season.

Spurs are quality. Brilliant balance from back to front. They just need to buy an extra elite attacker and they can take the next level.

How shit are Watford though as well? If we don't beat this lot in a few weeks it's a joke.

Spurs are flying, but those celebrations are like what little girls make up in a primary school playground.

Hitting peak form exactly when it matters....

They're further along in their progress than us for sure.

Their manager is there a year longer , I'm expecting us to I've take them over the next 2 seasons. There a more balanced/solid side

Don't think there FAR better , stronger squad and more men than kids in their squad . I'd fancy us any day v them

If they keep their squad together and add two quality players, they've got a settled side for the next few seasons. Lose Ali, Kane or Poch and it will start to unravel.

People always get so carried away mentioning Gerrard in the same sentence as Alli. Gerrard is a once in a lifetime player. Most Liverpool fans alive now won't see another player like Gerrard. A legendary player. You can be a great player but not a legendary player

Tottenham are basically the opposite of us. They're fairly consistent against the smaller sides but they usually bottle it against the big guns.

Personally think a lot on here overrating spurs

It's the right side they need upgrading in. Eriksen, Ali and Kane are quality. They dropped a clanger not coming in for Mane last summer. He would have been a perfect fit for them considering the pace they lack up top. His output from the right and they would have been around 6 points better off. That attack with the quick and clinical edge Mane would have brought off the right, it would have been something else. Zaha is probably the guy they're going in for but i'm not sure about him on the right. He's more suited off the left.

the fuckers haven't managed to beat Liverpool once over the last 2 seasons
grin.gif

It's about the whole season, nothing is awarded for beating Spurs and then struggling against all the dross. They will again finish above us, they have been better than us for years now.

They have a good squad with a strong goalie and defence, 6 or 7 really excellent players, who, now they are out of Europe, are flying. Time for them to actually compete when the pressure is on and win something now before Pochetinno moves on to a bigger team.

Yeah surprised they didn't go for Mane actually, just what they need/ed. Zaha not at the level of player that would improve them. (y)

Pochettino's work in the transfer market is quite hit and miss. They've wasted about 100m on the likes of Stambouli, Fazio, Sissoko, Janssen, N'Koudou and N'Jie since he joined the club.

It's because they got a good keeper and built from.back. solid foundations. Dele Alli and Kane are also their Gerrard and Torres.

Having a 70 million pound striker come through the academy helps to overshadow such failings.(good luck trying to buy Kane for 70m)

So frustrating watching a team clear corners with ease. That's one of the bigger differences between us and them.

Son, great business

Everybody's work in the transfer market is hit and miss. 4-0. They play some very, very good football.

Sure, but the idea he's built this Tottenham squad with cheap and astute signings doesn't really ring true. They've spent a lot of money over the last couple of seasons. (somebody's not looking at the net spend table)

Their best two players cost £6m!! Their defence not much more than Lovren. Unbelievable really

42. They have the best GD in the league (Again!!)

Spurs today, my word they've scored some pretty goals

It's just nobody really mentions how much this Tottenham squad actually cost, I reckon they've spent nearly 150m over the last 3 seasons.

more, closer to 170 mill hte last 3 seasons. Liverpool have spent more in the same time frame.
But since Jürgen Klopp came in they spent less in those windows that Spurs. But then Liverpool have spent less in those windows than the likes of Newcastle, Watford, West Ham and Crystal Palace

Well Arsenal spent over 80 million in net spend in the summer, Tottenham 35 million net. And they are better than us. Liverpool net spend actually shows you that Klopp is doing his very best. Almost 0 on net spend, Man Utd over 130+ million.

Spurs looking frightening, good thing they only got their act together when the title was beyond them

They're not winning the league

Quite a few compliments below from over on blue moon

Spurs deserve to win the title. Best team in the country, best manager too.

Spurs are so good, stable in all aspects of the game. Pep is spot on when he says they're the best side in the league. They've also embarrased us 2 seasons in a row with a significantly smaller budget and squad.

They were the best team in the league last season as well for me..
Thing is they need to win something while they playing so well or the manager will go or players will move on.

They were. It's ridiculous that they finished 3rd. Best team for 2 years.

as others have rightly said, spurs definitely the best team in the country. play some great football and are pretty solid at the back. Pochettino has put together a seriously good side. 4-0 up and it should be more, all this without harry kane too
Agree with others, Spurs have been the best team for 2 years. Not sure how they win nothing

I'll tell you straight up what the best UTD/ Spurs combined lineup would be

Lloris
Dier Toby Vertonghen
Walker Wanyama Dembele Rose
Eriksen Alli
Kane

Twits. They might be allocated a place or 2 on the bench. Might

"How good is Trippier going forward? His crosses are superlative. He doesn't even seem to need to control the ball first (normally to be advised) but just catches it right first time, every time and whips it in. He did struggle a bit defensively early on against Niang though. But having Walker and Trippier in the same squad is almost unfair"

This made me glow!

It's true though. Both walk into any other starting 11. Sadly one has to sit on the bench for us

The whole of the English football respects whats going on at spurs at the moment and how we've gone about it. The academy, scouting, coaching, management, team balance, style of play.

At the very least they respect us enough to try and work out how the hell we've done it and what can be learnt.

Everyone except fucking Liverpool.
