It's games like these that rightfully remind us we still have work to do with the team though. Spark from a player like Hazard probably would have gotten us through this despite not being at our best and actually, this performance was also similar to when we play the 'top' teams away from home. Like with Liverpool, United and City in which we never really turned up or performed anywhere near the football we know we can. They are also the games in which we realise we could do with a bit of a special player.

The thing is it's done now and again we are left to pick over the pieces of what might have been, we always seem to be just that little bit short and i don't know what the answer is anymore.

Really have no time for the 'im so proud of the lads' messages.

It was a pathetic and gutless performance. They deserve absolutely no praise tonight. Save it for the end of the season.
I'm kind of in the same mindset to be honest.

In a way, next weekend is the perfect tonic in that we can just focus on us and of course the last ever game at WHL without having to caveat it with how well Chelsea have done etc.

Exactly, felt like they outfought us tonight but I do think personally the players have been affected by the media this week, we didn't look anything like our usual self.

When you combine that with the fact West Ham were playing like a cup final and we weren't, well, that's the end result.

Yeah and it's the fourth London Derby in a row. People shouldn't forget the mental and physical drain on the players.

Our season ended when Chelsea beat Everton. Let the small time athletics club wankers have their one day of the year party. The harder they celebrate, the more pathetic they are.

Next up is our last game at WHL, and a great opportunity to go out on a high by confirming our top two finish. Back to back qualification for the CL group stages is something we've never achieved, and really announces us as a major force. It's been a fantastic season and it has been decades since we've been such an attractive prospect for new players.

Take it on the chin, appreciate what Pochettino is achieving with this young side and a low budget, and let's give the Lane the send off it deserves.

I agree with you here completely, I just hope next season we can kick on and win something and the rumours knocking around about our players don't hold any truth to them.

I know they likely won't hold truth but you never know I'm football.

i dont think the players are aware of how much west ham hate us. they give everything against arsenal and chelsea but west ham hate us just as much, if not more. so if we cant match their commitment and desire on the day, we will lose.... like we keep doing at at their place
It is their first game they look for, the game all their new players will be made aware of.
They are fired by hatred when playing us. They are not as bothered about the rest of their games.

We need the same attitude as them

It is game like this that got me thinking, what we think of us having the best players of each position is just bullshit.. Any player not happy, I hope Poch can just show them the fucking bench now (door later), instead of creating any unnecessary problems for the rest of the team at this crucial period, distracting them..

When their minds are not tuned, even Toby can have fuck up moments..

Really only in Poch I trust now.. Hope he asssembles the team that truly listen to him next season.. No one fucking player is bigger than this team..

Poch looked gutted when he went off.

I don't agree though. We've the last game at WHL coming up next. They players will definitely be up for that. Imagine if Boro pull of a shock. We just don't know.

Unfortunately Chelsea can win the league before we play next...

Gutted - for myself and the team.

Some dubious decisions by MP troubled me

I would have had Trippy in at the start over KW who just ain't right at the moment. I would have preferred Sonny as an impact sub, Moose was a big loss from the start of course.

Maybe sour grapes but I felt that in the last five or six games our players have been targeted with heavy tackles that
went unpunished by referees.

If the early goal had went in instead of the triple save maybe it would save all been different.

Ah well.

I really don't know whether it's us in the bubble of all things Tottenham and us being sensitive to any form of criticism or the fact that it was unashamed and completely biased commentary in way of highlighting any negatives surrounding us including speculation over keeping our players together.

Seemed tonight it was just taken to another level and really has irked me - probably more than it really should in truth.

It's been happening all season. You have commentators routinely saying "they're playing well, I am afraid". You only have to count the Arsenal connections in Sky's punditry team. Nicholas, Merson, Henry, Smith and you have idiots like Cottee who support West Ham.

Hoddle has gone to BT and we now don't have any regular representation at Sky, despite being aired on countless occasions. They seem to think J.Redknapp will do but he's, at best, neutral.

I just can't believe it's acceptable for commentators to say things like "as an Arsenal man it pains me to say it, but Spurs are playing well..." etc. It just highlights that as soon as it goes badly, they'll stick the boot in. They don't even bother to hide it!

And the same thing will happen because our players cannot make the passes that exploit the extra space. Big pitches expose some of our technical deficiencies. Defend against us is very simple, especially in a 4231: Press the CBs, clog the midfield/deny ball to Eriksen, track and Double the long diagonals...hit us on a counter or set piece. Job done. the only way we have to break it is Dembele driving through the lines. This is why we need a CM with good distribution. Winks would have helped but to not at least have had Dembele from the start really hurt.

Spot on, there were numerous times today when someone had the ball in the middle and had a player right next to him but also someone completely clear hugging the touchline a bit further but we more often than not chose to play the short pass, slowing down the move, probably pass it back to the centre backs etc. I don'd mind that sometimes as it's become part of our game and it's how we put a stamp on and control games a lot but there was too much of it today. Back to Vertonghen, slowly to Toby, to Lloris, to Toby, to Davies, to Dier, to Veronghen etc. We really struggled to get the ball to Alli, Son, Eriksen and Kane in the advanced positions.

Had to work late so mrs recorded game. Got home to find missed first 25min. After 35min I realised that was lucky.
W..T...F.
Truly poor team selection and mind bogglingly poor performance.
Stank of CL Wembley performance.
No urgency. SLOW AS FK and generally poor.
Sorry but like fa cup semi this one is on Poch imo.
Can't be arsed to go into it but why experiment to start with? Is it arrogance?
Strange whatever reason.

But previously we kept falling short of fourth and now it's falling short of the title. It's falling short but it is progress.

We still can't win the big games or the ones that matter. We went out the CL very tamely then the EL and the semi of the FA cup and yet Utd have already won a cup and are nailed on for the EL and they have been average in the league. It's the winning mentality that all top teams have and we haven't got it YET ! In fairness even if we had won tonight Chelsea would not have lost their remaining games. Personally I think to much has been said by Poch and some of the players in recent weeks about how good we are. They would be better just getting on with the games and leave the chest pumping at the end of the season all it does it heap more pressure on them..
For the last three seasons or at least the last two everybody has said that we are playing the best football in the prem but we still haven't won anything. I do worry about next season at Wembley as we don't play well there and we didn't tonight either also a big pitch. A great season for finishing 2nd ( I don't think we will be caught) but we have to win either the league or CL next season or many of our players will be off. I've enjoyed this season as most of us have but I thought we might have won something this year.
