Kaboul is our best defender in my eyes. He was OK against Sheriff, regardless, he's a better option than Dawson.
What did Dawson do so badly today though? Second half he was solid.

This judging player because you dont like them needs to stop by everyone, not saying you. Every player should be able to start a game with a clean slate and then after that be criticised or praised.

Come on! We can do it for Defoe, right?
He consistently confirms the bias too. :D

Friedel 6 - Made saves when required, reckon Lloris would have got to Remy for his goal though
Walker 6 - Doesn't quite have the same partnership with Townsend that he had with Lennon
Dawson 7 - Solid in the air against their frontline, just please enough with the long balls
Chiriches 7 - Great tackle early in the game, shame he got the injury as we could have done with another sub
Vertonghen 7 - Same as last week, gave us some good attacking impetus, solid defensively
Paulinho 6 - He attacks the box well and really should have scored, much improved with Sandro
Dembele 4 - Struggling to think what he actually offers in terms of defence or attacking
Sigurdsson 5 - Offered very little both on and off the ball
Townsend 3 So selfish, so poor at shooting, so poor at passing. Decent when he's taking on his man, but after that I just give up. 1 goal and 0 assists tells it's own story. Personally I don't believe the hype.
Eriksen 4 - I can accept one or two bad set pieces, but he was a joke. So lightweight, zero running off the ball, pretty piss poor passing accuracy.
Soldado 6 - What's he supposed to do when everyone around him his shooting or giving the ball away. He much get so frustrated. God knows what he thought when Defoe came on

Sandro 8 - Inexplicable that he didn't start. In the second half Newcastle never looked close to scoring
Kaboul 7 - Again, Newcastle never looked like they would score against him
Defoe 3 - Like Soldado, there's not much he can do if the service isn't there, but it was so frustrating to see him in the same positions as Soldado when we needed movement

AVB 2 - Tactically bent over again. Not going to use Krul as an excuse as this isn't a one off.

So no qualms with our defence, thought they were excellent. It's the midfield where our problems lie. But then we already knew that, didn't we.

Soldado and Sandro were good, everyone else was average/shit.

AVB would have gotten a big fat 0 if i could be bothered to do scores.

Not playing a holding midfielder.
Not playing Lamela
Not playing our best defender.
Bringing on fucking DEFOE and playing him alongside Soldado.

Absolute shambles.

Don't think it's bad decision not to start Lamela but he should have def brought him on instead of Defoe. Don't see how not playing Kaboul affected anything the goal was neither Chriches or Dawson fault. In fact Chiriches was having a good game. Sandro should have started.

Friedel - 6
Walker - 7 passing is improving
Chriches - 7
Dawson - 6
Vertonghen - 7
Paulinho - 6 didn't do too much missed a couple of chances
Dembele -5 poor game
Eriksen - 7 think he tried
Townsend -6 they dealt with him well
Sigurdsson -6 doesn't contribute much unless he scored but fair reson to play him
Soldado -8 drew a lot of fouls, and linked play well. If any of those main chances fell to him would ahve won

Sandro - 8 animal
Kaboul - 7
Defoe - smh

Game was more exciting today as people requested and we created a lot of chances but lost 1 nil. Hopefully next time we control the game and are more boring as people say but win 1 nil we wont get as many complaints now

Stand up if you can score a goal. In fact stand up if you can take a set piece. My word, if anyone wants to know the definition of 'wasteful' just watch back that game. Woeful finishing, absolutely terrible. Krul will get a lot of the praise but in truth most the shots were straight at him.

I missed the first half so I'm going to presume Kaboul and Sandro were brought on due to injuries, but Defoe shouldn't have come on. Game was crying out for Lamela ie someone who can work well in little space.

That said, we've been asking for creativity and entertainment, and we certainly made a lot of chances. Was a good watch at least though incredibly frustrating!

Sandro was tactical cos Dembele was shit.

I thought Chiriches was majestic before he got injured. A Rolls Royce of a player.

He does look a proper player. Should have gone long with it in the build up to their goal though, although I blame Dembele ( 90% ) and Paulinho ( 8% ) for that shambles.

Friedel 5, Not his fault but could have done better for the goal
Walker 6 Decent enough game
Dawson 5 Given the run around and didn't even have much to do
Chiriches 6
Vertonghen 7
Paulinho 6 I'm quite worried about him, seems very pedestrian and goes with the flow. Don't think he'll have an awful game, but can't see him standing out. And to me he also looks tired already. Worryingly just before going into the busiest period of the season
Dembele 5 Has the attributes to be a great player, but it just never seems to happen.
Sigurdsson 3 - did he play?
Eriksen 4 - How he's playing is beyond me. Awful pass rate for the last few games, and shit set pieces. I'm beginning to think he's one of those youtube players
Soldado 6
Townsend 4 - much to learn

Sandro 8
Kaboul 7
Defoe

Friedel 4 - Woeful. Flapped at an easy corner which gave Newcastle momentum. Made several easy saves look like hard work and for the love of God, stop staying on your bloody goal line for every corner. Positioning for the goal was poo too ... seen a tortoise show more urgency.

Walker 6 - Looked like he cba in the 1st half. Improved in the 2nd, got forward well but he has this annoying tendency of running, coming to a halt then playing the ball backwards.

Chiriches 6 - Excellent interception when Remy looked certain to score but the high line was all over the shop ... all though I blame that on the fat lump in goal and the central midfield not turning up in the 1st half.

Dawson 4 - Remy owned him in the 1st half. No pace, lumps the ball up and when we desperately needed the ball late on ... he put Sissoko in the stands and killed what little chance we had of getting a late equaliser.

Vertonghen 6 - Out muscled by Sissoko late on/should have passed it back to Brad when he had the chance. Decent enough going forward.

Dembele 2 - Just pathetic, incapable of tackling, shoddy passing, kept losing the ball in dangerous positions and kept disappearing.

Paulinho 6 - At fault for the goal but unlike Dembele he kept trying.

Eriksen 3 - Terrible. 9/10 of his corners and free kicks either hit the 1st man or went out of play.

Sig 1 - As per Dembele, but worse ... he had 1 shot and it went into row z, other than that he was a passenger all game.

Townsend 4 - a few lively moments but he progressively got worse as the 2nd half went on. Time to bench him.

Soldado 7 - Good movement, very unlucky not to score due to Krul being immense.

Sandro 8 - Why didn't he start? Bossed the midfield and turned the possession heavily in our favour.

Kaboul 7 - Restored confidence in our shaky central defence.

Defoe 0 - 2 touches in 25 mins, 1 lay off, 1 to the opposition, offside for our final attack.

AVB 0 - line up, tactics, subs were disastrous.

Fuck.my.life

Agree about Eriksen, thought he was decent today bar his awful set pieces, more like cod pieces.

He really was fine today.

You don't create that many chances without someone having a good game!
Even Pardew seemed to recognise that they'd got lucky.
So frustrating that it feels like it's always us that runs into these daft games.

Einstein: Insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Sorry AVB, but you keep putting out what is effectively the same line up, but you're expecting something magical to happen? Time to mix it up a little bit maybe?

Look I 100% believe AVB is the man to take us forward but we cannot keep pretending he is not at fault. Firstly Dembele and paulinho cannot play together no defensive cover, i understand that sandro wasn't a 100% fit and capoue has just come back from injury but ONE OF THEM NEEDS TO PLAY. Secondly we all know we have a problem with tempo even the fucking pundits know our tempo is a problem so why for the love of god have we not solved we are eleven games in there can be no excuse of early season syndrome or whatever the fuck. Thirdly this whole messing with the team every fucking game is really frustrating, don't get me wrong i believe earning a place based on performances is right but Eriksen has done fuck all to justify a place over Holtby, he was poor against sheriff home and away and didnt impress against hull(cup game), to add to that townsend has'nt done anything in our last three games to justify retaining a place, he doesn't play for the team, shoots from ridiculous distances when there are better passes on, holds the ball for too long and seems to believe he's Bale MK2. Then you've got a man who has just played his best game for us, impressed everyone and must be brimming with confidence so why do we not play him. Absolutely Ridiculous decision not to play lamela and him not starting would not have done any good for his confidence. I actually felt Soldado had a good game today got more touches of the ball, linked up play well but yet again we are not giving him any service. Today also showed us how much we rely on Lloris, probably would have prevented the first goal, I'm not sure if we bowed to media pressure with that one there. Anyway for me Holtby, Lamela and Sandro/Capoue should of started today. Every team has issues but our problem is that we are not solving are issues and in fact what pisses me off the most is that avb as of now hasn't admitted we have issues but seems to give excuses. I think that we will improve hopefully this is a wake up call for Andre but if is'nt then you have to ask the question how many wake up calls do we need. Positive side- Rose capoue to come back, Soldado more involved today, AVB will work on this now(i think) P.S- That dummy by soldado to eriksen was scrumptious
