Eric Morecambe
When Eric played an incompetent 'Mr Memory', unable to remember anything without unsubtle prompting from Ernie, Ernie prompted Eric with "Arsenal!" disguised very badly as a cough. Later, whenever Ernie, or anyone else, coughed or sneezed, Eric would shout "Arsenal!" (Wiki)

We play Morecambe fc in the FAC
And one symptom of Covid is a cough.

There’s s joke in there somewhere.

Get forensics in, they might be able to detect some traces of it ;)

It had to happen but it is frustrating that the two teams we play next in Leicester and Brighton are both in poor form or have lots of injuries and are probably quite winnable games because of this. I doubt the conditions would be as advantageous next time. A shame but it’s where we are now.

The flip side is that when we do have to play them we may be a better side, and possibly have a few January signings. Not that we've had loads to go on, but I'm still not greatly confident of our ability to play well enough away from home just yet.

I was reading about Kimmich at Bayern. He has his lungs affected by Covid and is now out until like mid january. The thing is he wasnt vaccinated and was well known he didnt want to have the vaccine yet.

So, spread rather rapidly through the club if indeed Omicron variant.

Games being postponed, kind of got me thinking, if it can go through a team so quickly, how long until the mass gathering of fans becomes an issue once more, and sees games played in empty stadiums again.

Surely that would see Levy( like many) take a more cautious approach regarding spending with revenue streams reduced once more.

Hope this scenario doesn't play out, not now we have a truly elite manager who needs backing, and has no doubt been told he'll have a decent wedge to spend.
So hope too that crowds remain
The government needs to hold its nerve. If people want to go to games that's their choice. Covid passes and negative tests should be properly checked
I'm completely against any more Lockdowns, we have to live with Covid

Been thinking - all of the combinations or permutations of games and when and how we can play them is assuming we will only have our four games to rearrange. What we dont know is if we need to face a team who are experiencing what we are experiencing - so potentially they also need to be psotponed as our situation has now set a precedence if others face similiar numbers.

There could be more - who the hell knows.

This makes me so scared for our whole team.

Even if they don't get to Kimmmich' level of illness

any illness they do have might severely affect their performance. We might have half a team performing at 60/70%

So a 20-30% improvement over this season's early performance levels?

We might, but if it's Omicron we probably won't

I expect there to be a domino effect, Omicron seems to be spreading fast. Leicester may have an outbreak bigger than ours by tomorrow
Next week it might be Liverpool or West Ham

Conti got us playing and getting good results he'll do it again. Im not too concerned about the delay - its football it happens. Get rid of the Europe football (dont agree with two bob cup) and fixtures sorted.

At some point the club are going to want their lawyers to look into how his actions are impacting his transfer value to the club and whether he is breaking his contract in some way in doing that. I can see a future where there is a covid clause in every player’s contract going forward. There simply has to be to protect everyone financially and health wise going forward.

I am amazed that clubs did not put more pressure on (or even insist that) their players to get the vaccine. In the age of Sport Science you'd think the players would be well educated and advised. Having unvaccinated players increases the risk of there being a Covid breakout at the club, and also means illness will statistically be worse and recovery take longer. As I put in the Covid thread, I was hospitalised by Covid back in October despite being double vaccinated, and the doctors showed me an x-ray of an unvaccinated persons lungs in comparison to my own x-ray, and I really cannot comprehend anyone taking the risk of not having the vaccine.

I was going to lock this but on reflection, i'm going to leave it open but remind you, for about the third time, that this thread is for the FOOTBALL aspect of the situation.

Posts on Covid in general are for the main thread on the subject located in the Chat Forum.

I know this is off topic but I always wandered why he shouted Arsenal.

I always thought it was something like a sneeze sounding like saying a Jew instead of achoo and spurs being seen as a Jewish club so basically saying he isn't a Jew (even though Arsenal probably have similar numbers of Jewish fans). It didn't make a huge amount of sense but it was the only thing I could think of. I hadn't thought about it for ages but you have solved a confusion I had from a very young age thank you.

Wolves are the exemplary club when it comes to the vaccinations. They had doctors and virologists in to meet with the players, explained the risks and benefits, and the whole squad got on the team bus and drove to the vaccine centre together. Everyone got their first and second jabs on the same days.

More clubs should've done it that way.
