No, AFAIK, missed out an if there, must edit post ?Has it been confirmed that it’s the Omicron variant that’s affecting the club?
In order not to invoke the wrath of A&C, I will do my best to keep this relevant to the football side. In Kimmich's case, you have to understand that in Germany the thinking is a little different. There is a real revulsion at the prospect of enforced vaccinations in the country (full stop, not just covid) and the issue you face is that it is a Federal Republic, that means yes, laws can be passed at the country level (obviously), but there will be heavy resistance at the state level for laws that infringe upon basic human rights, or right to decide over one's body. So in Kimmich's case, there is no "law" to be looked at, either in terms of valuation of the player or risk to other players (and Kimmich is by far not the only non-vaxed player, just the most high profile one in Germany). That said, they are looking seriously at implementing such a law here in Germany, perhaps as early as Feb next year.At some point the club are going to want their lawyers to look into how his actions are impacting his transfer value to the club and whether he is breaking his contract in some way in doing that. I can see a future where there is a covid clause in every player’s contract going forward. There simply has to be to protect everyone financially and health wise going forward.
Continuing on from the above to this.I am amazed that clubs did not put more pressure on (or even insist that) their players to get the vaccine. In the age of Sport Science you'd think the players would be well educated and advised. Having unvaccinated players increases the risk of there being a Covid breakout at the club, and also means illness will statistically be worse and recovery take longer. As I put in the Covid thread, I was hospitalised by Covid back in October despite being double vaccinated, and the doctors showed me an x-ray of an unvaccinated persons lungs in comparison to my own x-ray, and I really cannot comprehend anyone taking the risk of not having the vaccine.
Norwich having problems now
Continuing on from the above to this.
There is medical traction in statistical journals that we are only now beginning to see some of the "long term effects" of the vaccine (source is a medical research website in Germany and even the ONS in the uk, if I dig them out I will post in the Covid thread). Worse than Covid? I personally haven't done the research and am double vaxed, but there are enough people even round here in Germany where I live who as a result are still extremely resistant to having the vaccine, as they deem it invasive to the dna. Again, not interested in pros vs cons here, just trying to explain why even professional sports people like Kimmich might feel (rightly or wrongly), that it is their right to decide and maybe give a small insight into matters across the waters.
You're right but as for the deleting, I'm not going to keep on and on doing that so going forward, if anyone wants to discuss this, use the main Covid thread in the Chat Forum.Very happy if that post, and my reply, get deleted from this thread.
