nadgers - 8 players out. Unlucky, but I suppose it will hit every team eventually.

Last season, Newcastle United's game at Aston Villa in the Premier League was postponed following a "significant increase" in Covid-19 cases at the Magpies' training ground.

Later that month, a coronavirus outbreak at Manchester City caused their Premier League match at Everton to be postponed four hours before kick-off.

Villa also had a Covid-19 outbreak in January, which meant that no first-team players were available for an FA Cup third-round defeat by Liverpool, prior to Premier League games against Everton and Tottenham being rescheduled.

See. It has happened to other teams. There's no "Spurs Curse". I hope the infected people will be okay.

The last thread on this got locked because it got out of hand. We'll leave this open until that happens again. If we confine ourselves to talking about the football aspect of this situation we're golden, anything else can go in the (massive) Covid thread stickied in the General Chat Forum. Cheers

Whilst not ideal, it's a good chance to for other squad members to get a chance. Even if it's youngsters, no pressure on results cause we all understand the situation.
Let's use this to build some togetherness.

Edit: having read the reports from the press conference then yeah probably best thing to do is close everything for 10 days and keep all safe.

They can't. It's private medical information.
They can't. It's private medical information.
I slightly chuckle at journalists sudden conscience when it comes to the even suggestion that they name players who they have heard might be affected. I get the whole sensitivity about medical records, I work with data and IT systems all day so I know how GDPR treats medical records . However what I would say is, if a reporter heard that player X potentially has a knee injury…would they have the same concern with reporting that without confirmation from player X that they wanted it common knowledge? It’s all medical record related. I would suggest that should not be reported, in the same way COVID tests should not be reported when they have heard from internal ‘sources’.

Should go without saying but the players along with everybody they interact with at the club from catering to the people who work in the office, their health is most important. It is a real shame however how much this might affect us, there's so many possibilities, we don't know how badly any of the players have been affected and any long term ramifications, we don't know how this will impact training during the most crucial part of the season for having people fully fit with the fixture congestion and we don't know how the fixture pile up will pan out, It's a real shame.

However with obstacles comes the opportunity to overcome and will accelerate I think the bond between players and coaching staff as they look to get past this situation, a good opportunity to grow that team comradery perhaps but we'll see what happens. Facing Leicester with loads of players unable to train for 10 days, is not the ideal situation. Letalone the situation with Rennes and Brighton.
