Looking forward to the new Netflix series ‘Break Point’.

It’s being pitched as tennis’ answer to ‘Drive to Survive’ the F1 doc. They’re focusing on players outside the big four to shine a light on their stories.

Break Point release date

The first five episodes of Break Point are released on Netflix on 13 January 2023, with episodes 6-10 coming out in June.

The early episodes will cover the first half of the tennis season, starting at the Australian Open and finishing at Roland Garros for the French Open.

The second half of the series will cover the grass-court swing, including Wimbledon, Eastbourne and Queen’s, as well as the US Open and WTA and ATP Finals.

Looks like fun!

... but a 5 month wait for part two? Is that some sort of record?

Guessing it’s to align with the tennis calendar:
  • First half released week before Aus Open starts
  • Second half released week before Grass court season starts (2nd week of Roland Garros)

What a warrior Murray is. I know I’m a bit of a Murray fan-boy but incredible performance out there against one of the strongest players on tour.

Getting pulled back from 2-0 up into a breaker on the fifth. 4:45 out there and he still has the energy and legs to fight out the win.

Only saw bits of the fifth set as it started so early but looks like this is def one to watch on catch-up.

I woke up, checked my phone and saw the tiebreak was about to start and pretty much ran to the living room to watch it.

So good to see Murray like that again. Could see how exhausted he was though, next round will be tough whoever he plays.

Hell of a fight going on in the Murray Kokkinakis game. Never really rated Kokkinakis but he's hitting it so cleanly out there.

Have to feel that if Murray can nick this 2nd set that doubts may creep in and a few unforced errors will start to come.

I love late night tennis and this match with Murray is superb. Always find late night tennis, local time, to be just that extra special

I watched Alcaraz Sinner at the US Open - finished around 3am.

It is insane. I think if I was a player id like to finish the match there and then so I would be interested to see how long they carry this on for. If Murray wins this set I can see him wanting this to continue to the end.

100% no way Murray wants this to be suspended.

He’s got Kokkinakis complaining and starting to pick away at the mental side. Last thing he wants is for him to have a break and let his coaching team square his head away

Well that's pretty incredible. Another nearly six-hour, five-setter, and Murray wins again. When they replaced his hip with a metal one they didn't just go the whole hog and make him bionic did they?

Also, it's 4.10am there. They have to do something about that surely?

Wow wow wow... Somebody get a stretcher to carry Murray off that court.

4hr 50m in the first round and now 5hr 45m finishing at gone 4 in the morning... Bautista Agut must be rubbing his hands together at how tired Murray will be ahead of their match

That was great. Like really great. I do like Andy - like as an individual, he is real. The mental toughness and stamina to go through that. I mean at his age, I was getting up to go for a piss at 4am.
