Disappointment in that we were let to believe the club will inject £150M primarily for improvement in the playing staff this window. This has raised fans' expectation, when in fact it is simply PR. Don't get me wrong, it's still an effective transfer window, and we have improved our squad. Notwithstanding, West Ham and Forest have outspend us. And as Conte said, we are two players away from any serious challenge for honours. As was so often the case, it's so near and yet so far.
Is there a single player that West Ham or Forest bought that would get into our XI? Who cares how much they spent?

I come to this place sometimes to get away from the shitty normal life struggles. Yet thanks to some on you melts it makes it worse.

We all love our club we've had a fantastic transfer window and a brilliant start to the season.

Can we just be normal human beings and enjoy the ride or do we have to continue with this utter bullshit toxicity?

Get your shit together as there's more important things in life than football.

Having said that. COYFS

It's not toxicity it's just a different view to yours, laugh at it and scroll on fella.

Agree that we have had a great window and exciting times ahead.

I mean we did spend the vast majority of that …. We’re at a net spend around £118 million. That’s not a normal amount of money for us to spend. Is there another player we could have realistically gotten that would have elevated us for the remaining £32mil? We made very little money off outgoings and are still paying at least partial wages for them.

It seems to me that we were willing to spend to get the targets we wanted, but we weren’t willing to spend for the wrong players or on options that we’d be looking to replace in six months. The right players weren’t available so we held off on spending for the sake of spending. Sure we would have all loved us to sign Bastoni, Gvardiol, or Zaniolo but they weren’t available so we’ll wait another six months and try again. I know the SC braintrust wanted a CAM and a RWB, but (at least from media links) that wasn’t a priority for Conte (or the right player wasn’t available).

I’m firmly in “trust the process” mode. You can’t judge a transfer window until the end of the season. Last season we had maybe 13 or 14 players Conte trusted. Now we’ve got more like 20. I think that is progress. More telling is what we do in January and next summer. Do we continue to spend money early on clearly targeted players and back Conte fully or do we revert back to our previous MO?

Apparently he said we were two windows away from challenging, not two players.

This window was a major success. Perisic, Bissouma, Richarlison, and Romero (permanent) are enormous signings and 1st-team-ready. Spence, Lenglet, and Forster significantly improve our bench, with some potential to be starters. Our main business was done early, so we've been picking up points throughout August instead of (often/usually?) leaving plenty behind and playing catch up.

Our performances aren't good at the moment despite the points haul and one more flashy signing wouldn't necessarily solve that. We were a dominant front-foot team at the end of last year and we need to regain that rhythm so that our summer business helps us kick on. We have a ferocious schedule ahead of us now, but there can be little to no excuse from the players for being too timid in their displays or from the manager regarding recruitment. We are set up to compete well, even if not at the very very top of the ladder.

I'm glad the window is closed and dislike that it was open after the season started. We've got plenty to look forward to.
