Best British sportsman ever ??
Off the top of my head I'm struggling to think of somebody from here who has achieved as much as he has in such a high profile sport.
Best British sportsman ever ??
Formula 1 is global so maybe Lewis Hamilton worth a mention
Called itArise sir Andy...
Called it
It wasn't a lot to go on!And the only clues you had were long-term British #1, 3 majors, including 2 Wimbledons, 2 Olympic gold medals, a Davis Cup triumph, the world #1 ranking, and first 3-time winner of SPOTY.
You're a genius!
To be fair, I thought they'd wait until he finished playing.
Heard that he's asked Wimbledon not to call him 'Sir' until he's finished playing. Will the on-court scoreboards have to put Sir Andy Murray now?

Imagine in the locker rooms they'll be using it to take the piss for quite a while
Brits going well in Sidney. Jo Konta through to the final against Radwanksa and even Dan Evans getting in on the act beating Thiem to get to the semis.
I wonder if Jo can kick on this year and snag a Grand Slam? Best chance for years as the women's division is weak at the moment.
Great win for Dan (esp considering Thiem was #1 seed). Will be a great confidence boost ahead of the Aus OpenBrits going well in Sidney. Jo Konta through to the final against Radwanksa and even Dan Evans getting in on the act beating Thiem to get to the semis.

Just checked results from last night and Dan has made it into his first ever ATP final
Watched the Thiem game when I got home last night, looks like he's got a new level of inner belief and looked very impressive. Was expecting him to lose his temper and buckle when he was broken back twice at the start of the second but he kept calm and dug in like he'd been playing at this level his whole career. He finished about an hour ago. Good performance, too. He went for his shots - as ever - and didn't bottle it when he got his chance. Served out for the match to love. He could beat Muller too ...

His inside-out backhand has always been a weapon but it looks like he's learnt that he can pick his time to use it rather than try to hit a clean winner with every shot.
See Konta won her final too. Giddy times for British tennis. Can honestly say I never thought we'd have a female winner & see the mens #3 seed in an ATP final in the same week. Even making 2nd round of an ATP event (outside Queens) was unheard of a few years ago.
