I remember that Baldini was in Barca for some sort of dinner for Luis Enrique, didn't remember seeing anything about a target.....but Baldini seems like the type of guy who would operate well when people are drinking, so i would assume a dinner function would be his environment to really pull information out of people regarding any number of teams/players/agents...

From this I get an image of Luis Enrique ringing Baldini the next day "Christ, my head, what happened last night?" And Bladini replying "you agreed to sell us Suarez for one million pounds.....because you wouldn't want your wife to see these pictures would you....."

If Sandro does go and Schneidelin come in I'll be perfectly fine with that. In terms of defensive qualities from CM, although MS and Capoue I'd imagine will start a lot at Soton a lot of time Poch started Ward Prowse or Cork there so depth wise we don't necessarily have to more than two DMs in regards tacking ability etc. No doubt in my mind I'd keep Dembele, Paulinho, Bentaleb and Holtby plus got Eriksen obviously (who can also offer LW cover) all fighting for 3 spots. There could be 60 games this season.
Great in theory but it won't work in practice.

If Schneiderlin comes in i'd expect at least 1, if not 2 of those highlighted to leave (obviously with exception of Eriksen).

At times last season we ended up with Siggy or Chadli CM. Our injury record in line with 60 games be madness to go into the season with 2 less than that. We need 2 for every position, with a couple of youth making up the 25.

I've never felt an emotional attachment to Sandro like I did with Rafa, Bale etc. I think the reason why we would sell him is because Sandro is the only midfielder we have who isn't an all-rounder and can do everything.

IMO, Paulinho, Dembele, Capoue and even Bentaleb are more well-balanced midfielders than Sandro, who seems to be good at defending but not as good at passing/attacking.

As we all know, Schneiderlin is another one of these "all-rounders" so I can understand why we would prefer him to Sandro in the squad.

I bloody hope we don't sell anymore midfielders though (maybe with the exception of loaning Carroll).

Injury aside, we will miss him for what he brings to the team's overall spirit. It's hard to replace goofballs. And they are very important. (I'm being serious here, in case that seems like I'm being sarcastic)

Okay stop the pandering....we'll let you stay.

Goof-ball.

To get Schneiderlin in, we'd expect someone would have to make way.... and probably Capoue, Carroll, Demeble all have an edge over Sandro when it comes to their distribution.
Not quiet the same after the injury,... apart from the screamer against Utd at the Lane last season

The only plus I can see in Sandro going is that it means Poch has some faith in Capoue (who I think is the better footballer) and hopefully has Schneiderlin in mind as well.

Schneiderlin and Capoue would make an excellent midfield duo, as both can play the ball and both can sit if needed. My only concern would be who would cover them if injured, as I'm not sure Bentaleb is up to the task defensively, and none of the other players in the squad really have that defensive side to their game.
Mousa would be fine. I actually suspect it'll be either Capoue or Schneiderlin, not both in the starting XI at one time.

Capoue/Morgan------Nabil/Dembele/Paulinho/Holtby/Carroll/Whoever

Personally I think Dembele and Schneiderlin would work really well. MS is disciplined and passes forward quickly and Mousa is a beast who can drive forward with less worry about the team shifting the ball forward more efficiently from midfield.

I think he had something to do with renting properties in Liverpool and at one time he had one or two Liverpool players looking for places and also Benitez or at least he knew Rafa.
Maybe that's where he heard something about Napoli. I don't think he has any access to Spurs info unless it's something linked to Benitez or one or two Liverpool players

Rafa still has his house on the Wirral (about 3 miles down the road from me) - his wife lives here and kids still go to school here, so its not implausible that he'd still be linked to Benitez in some way.

Fees for Sandro and Paulinho would cover three quarters of the price for Schneiderlin and Griezmann.

If you could sell the former two for 30 and buy the latter two for 40. I think a lot of people would be up for that!

Ok, back to reality.

He was awesome at times. But given his injury record in recent times, and I would love it to be otherwise, will we miss him on the pitch that much ?

How long do we give Carroll to blossom ? He didn't get rave reviews for his time at QPR.

This is to say that Capoue's recent injury record is spotless?

Would love Griezmman and think Schneiderlin would be a very good player. But Sandro in his own right prior to injury was amazing and I'm still banging the optimist Paulinho drum. I'm on my own I think but still banging haha.

But I get your point.

I'd much rather have a squad with Schneiderlin, Paulinho and Griezmann.
We got Rose, Naughton, Dawson and Lennon who'd raise Griezmann price and imo we'd end up with stronger squad overall (assuming a CB is coming in).

I get your point to. And in no way am I writing off Paulinho, he could still be a big contributor goal wise for us this year. I love Sandro but I just think we have doubts about him getting back to his best. He's always picking up niggles which probably isn't a good sign.

It was more just a hypothetical but if it were possible I'd do it.

Paulinho -> Juventus (to replace Vidal/Pogba... lol) £20m
Sandro -> Napoli £14m

Schneiderlin £16m
Griezmann £24m

£6m or so outlay.

Looks like cracking business to me, especially with Bentaleb coming into the mix in midfield anyway.

Not too unbelievable either.

I'd imagine Di Marzio would be all over those outward transfers if they were happening though...

We'd be lucky to get £12m for Paulinho and £10m for Sandro.

Well yeah, that would be even better.
