I don't quite understand why Roy gets so many chances? He makes batting look so difficult where Malan makes it look so easy!

I've defended Jason Roy a lot in this thread because he's a top quality player. He went through a pretty awful run of form but that can happen to anybody, but it did go on a bit didn't it. England deserve credit for sticking by him and today, he showed why.

England's bowling has been woeful today. Flat track but they have served up some filth

this whole team rotation does nobody any favours. rather than being able to bring one or two into a team to build experience, we end up playing a team who all together aren't at the level required.

The bowling needs to find some new blood. Stone looks decent, Archer needs some overs under his belt. Woakes looks done at this level and we need replacements for Rashid and Ali

Agreed on Ali, Rashid is still more than good enough.

When you think of the players missing, this is a real bits and pieces side. problem is, we never get to play a full strength side.

just dreadful, dreadful bowling here.

SA are so bad they're barely going to scrape to the next World Cup, yet they're making this chase look easy.

It's up to Roy to earn his place. He's had one blinding innings on this mini-tour and that's not that much away from anyone else's efforts thus far.

What does go unnoticed is that South Africa are quietly building a decent team and have improved a lot at white ball in the last couple of years. They aren't a pushover.

We've 3 ODI's and 3 T20's against Bangladesh next month and he's got it all to do. I still have faith in him and hope he does well.

There's too much to talent floating around to keep persevering. It's admirable but these are crucial opportunities to bed in a new top order.

Thought Malan & Jos were imperious today, rebuilt and then accelerated at the right time.
I’ve been a bit of a critic of Malan’s scoring rate in the past but you don’t get to no 1 ODI bat in the world without being decent and he’s really showing majestic form at the moment.
Big conundrum for the selectors about Roy though an with so many decent options up top I don’t envy them, would seem unfair to drop after one or two bad knocks but I think we’ve got so many options we actually should.

First Test starts tomorrow between India and Aus.
Pretty clear what they are up to. 5 left handers in our top 7.
They have 1.
They will play 2 left arm orthodox spinners.
Check the images.
And we bowed to their demands to not play the first test of the last series in Brisbane!

Not sure what else you would call it. Shave a section of pitch in front of a right hand pace bowler that will rip apart after 1 hour. Leave the grass on the rest and water it.
Who else in the world would do that?
Havent teams been creating pitches to suit their game for years ?

Yeah you can't do that. One thing shaving the whole surface but you can't prepare a wicket so that some parts of it play differently to others.

Australia all out for 177. It’s not even that tough a surface to bat on so kudos to the india bowlers and credit where credit is due.
