Amazing to think that Moeen Ali is a batsman and part time spinner. Certainly isn’t the case now.

He’s in absolutely dreadful form and I’ve never seen someone more idiotic in situations like this.

5-19. Brilliant fight from England. Must have realised if it ends today they can get a full day on the golf course.

ok so given the opposition, given the conditions, this is up there with the worst performances i’ve seen from England.

wholesale changes needed:
1) we just can’t play a specialist wicket keeper who is batting at 8. a wasted position seeing as we have two others who can keep.

2) we mostly only need to play one spinner (Mo). and he is batting too high at 7.

3) Jennings must go now. Burns has a bit of something anout him, i would get Roy in to open with him asap.

This team is incapable of even batting for a whole day if their lives depended on it. Individual batsmen can hit a nice looking 50, 60, 70 runs, maybe even a ton on a good day, and look the dogs bollocks for a session but that's all.

I can only repeat myself, the standards and quality on show are diabolical.

Seems to be something seriously wrong with the mindset in bat. Burns went about it perfectly 2nd innings with 600+ to chase because the emphasis could only be on getting in and batting long, why is that so hard to ask for from the start?

Roston Chase with his 8-60 now has a better Test figure against England than Shane Warne (8-71).

I really pisse's me off why Roy has been sort of pushed toThe sidelines when it comes to test cricket..
High class limited over player at international level doesn't mean he hasn't got the mentality to do it at test level..

He hasn't got the technique. He could bat at 6 and do a decent job but his technique would get ripped apart if he opened.

Can't even make 250, that's pretty pathetic. No contests in test cricket anymore, either a team gets smacked in 3 days , or they do the smacking. No fight.

At this stage, we might as well give Nick Gubbins a go. He can't do any worse.

lots of players haven’t had the best technique but have made great careers out of test cricket. in fact, some of the best ever.

Roy is one of the most technically gifted players we’ve had in an age. he would do a brilliant job. Sangakkara said Roy’s main issue is that he gets bored, can play too many different shots to the same ball, and fets himself out. if he was given an opportunity he would, in my opinion, be one of our best in a while.

Diasagree, we're bereft of any quality openers.. Cricket has changed drastically in the last 10 years,.. we're not talking boycott type opening anymore.

No he wouldn't, he looks great in the one day format as the ball doesn't do as much and fielding restrictions really help the batsman and even then he stills gets bowled a lot if the ball does move.

The fact that he gets bored shows he hasn't got the mentality to bat for long periods. Thats fine for a one day player but not for a top order test batsman.
