Does anyone know if Murtagh has a British parent?

It's the manner in which the wickets were offered up with very little thought of what was going on. Bairstow the only one trying to negate a swinging/moving ball by batting out of his crease.

Hard hands, perhaps a hangover from the world cup for a few, but it's a lightweight excuse at this level.

Fantastic start by the bowlers. Really piling on the pressure for the Irish batsmen.

Just kidding. They’ve been fucking shit.
They've not been fucking shit, it isn't doing half as much as it was early doors this morning and granted they could have been a touch fuller, but they have passed the outside edge and taken it once or twice, difference being the Irish openers understand soft hands mean the ball won't fly to the keeper and slip.

Once again the batting fails and the bowlers are meant to dig us out of a shit situation again, that's a lot of pressure to just start knocking teams over, but they'll have to get their heads round it heading in to the Ashes.

They’ve been bowling short and wide. They’ve put them under no pressure whatsoever.

I wouldn't say the bowling has been shit. It hasn't been as good as Ireland's though, that's for sure. Yes it isn't doing as much as it was this morning, but Woakes is still bowling like it's an ODI against Bangladesh and Broad in that first spell didn't look at all threatening.

Sam Curran has done well, Broad's second spell was good, but the Irish batsmen have looked a lot more comfortable and a lot more capable than our sorry lot. That's rather worrying.

This test is over. Well played Ireland. Not only beating us, humiliating us.

Another gutless, unprofessional England test performance.

We are playing like we have been living it up in Faeces nightclub since the WC win (as per Spurs after the 2008 League Cup!).
Tend to agree with others that Root should not be captain, not least because it is affecting the batting performances of someone who is in the top 5 players in world cricket.
Go easy on us aussiespursguy (when you have stopped laughing that is!)

Appropriate typo considering that’s what our batting effort resembled.

Wow just got home and turned on the test expecting to see England 300-1 on a benign pitch in sweltering conditions. One more wicket to equal the most ever fallen on the first day of a Lord's test

Lets see if they get themselves out of this mess and make runs today. If they can bat England into a lead of around 200, it should be enough. Tough day to be out in the field today by the way.
