It's not just White Hart Lane, it's a growing problem for many clubs and it must have something to do with ticket prices and the type of people who can afford to go every week. Football has become very middle class, just look at the pricing of all merchandise/tickets around the league.

If the Premier League clubs took the TV money and used it to half ticket prices across the board, within a few seasons there might be an improvement. This won't happen of course but I think it would help.

Perhaps we should add some new songs:

We only jeer when we're losing

This is a library, this is a library

Can you sing a song for us

We're not signing anymore (thats a typo not one for our deaf fans)

I'm a season ticket holder. It's all my fault

Next game, instead of just chanting in block 31, I'll run around the rest of the stadium to try and get the atmosphere going in each block, not just the one I'm in.

I a season ticket holder, I'm in my 40's, I've had my season ticket for years, I haven't changed my approach to match days in all the time I've been going to games.

That said, the atmosphere was terrible on Saturday, I totally agree. One of the worst I've known, although I don't recall there being any booing at half time which was a pleasant surprise.

I still chanted throughout, even if there wasn't many other people joining in.

I don't know what the answer is. I don't think just blaming season ticket holders is the answer though, a number of people who weren't joining in on Saturday were non season ticket holders.

Maybe football in this country will become Americanised like many other things have and we'll have some gems like...

Lets go Tottenham, Lets go

or

Tot - ten - ham! Tot - ten - ham! Tot - ten - ham!

Getting a bit sick of people blaming season ticket holders. It seems its either people who are bitter that they've been on the waiting list and can't get a ticket, or those who live too far away to go or those that used to go and are moaning how it was so much better back in the day etcetc. Easy to slag off season ticket holders but when you have paid that much money over such a long period it can alter your perception and attitude. Those same fans who would be "better" supporters would revert to exactly the same behaviour if they became season ticket holders over a long period. Its human nature.

The constant false dawns and continued selling of our best players has also made the average Spurs fan far more cynical imo and just more meh about our prospects.

The atmosphere has become crap and some of the boo boys do my head in but football has changed unfortunately. Its all about money, Top four is the be all and end all, inflated ticket prices, fans becoming less connected to the club. The whole experience is more sanitized. Sad but true.

I might post some general thoughts about the atmospher later, but there was something particularly strange about Saturday.

I was in the Park Lane, and when we sang "We're the Park Lane, We're the Park Lane…" there was silence from the Shelf Side who usually reply. That happened twice, leaving a straggly chorus to try and sing "You're the Shelf Side" at them in an unsuccessful attempt to get them going.

I can't remember that happening before. Usually you can rely on the Park Lane and the Shelf Side to at least sing a bit and reply to each other.

Has there been a sudden massive seat swap or something? It was strange and sad really...

I was on The Shelf, as usual, and thought The Park Lane was quiet until we scored. That said, The Shelf wasn't exactly raucous either.

With regards to the park lane, shelf side, it was done whenever it was heard. The only time I didn't join in personally was when it was done for something like the tenth time in 15 minutes. That maybe a slight exaggeration but it did feel like that was the only chant anyone could come up with for a while.

away games, derbies and Europe games.

Derbies?

Do we still have derby matches? Can't remember any recent games against London teams at the Lane where the crowd reacted like it was a huge derby game.

All games regardless of the opposition are peaceful quiet affairs nowadays.

Shouldn't allow some London rivalry to come in the way of some tranquility and calm relaxation whilst holding up your iphone to record something you'll never watch!

I get to see us play about 6-7 times in a season at White Hart Lane and naturally, having to fly over from Malta and get hotel accommodation in London, it does cost me a lot of Euro's to do it.

Each time I make it, I always try to join in the singing and I also occasionally myself try and get people around me to sing. Strangely enough, some fans around me just stare at me and look at me, as if I am acting in an abnormal and irrational way! This really annoys me, since I really look forward to fulfilling my enjoyment at the game with the singing, as well as seeing Spurs playing well and win.

Oh well, maybe the fact that we are not achieving as much as we have come to expect and also the team under performing is a very telling and contributing factor.

I know AVB was wrong to make his comments about the fans at home in that no manager can be seen to be criticisng the fans but he was right (about that if not other things) and clearly it gets to the players as well. It is definitely worse this season than it's been before and noticeably much better for cup games when 1882 get their ticket shares.

It is so bad where I sit with some guys behind me at present (who I have reported to the club for foul and abusive languague mainly directed at our team!) I am looking to relocate my season tickets at the end of the season.

There are definitely ways the club could improve the situtation if they were willing to do this. Do they care? Who knows!

Hmm I think arsenal last season was decent.

This is very true and also why the atmosphere is better in most other countries where the football is much more affordable!

Man U seem to have the best songs. Their away support is the best in England.

Maybe, but it's no longer what this game once was. Arsenal used to be properly hostile and aggressive, these days our fans get upset if one of their players injures his poor little knee against us!

I see somebody laughed but i tend to agree that it is! Maybe it's because whoever they are playing the Utd support is made up of locals from that area.

I was back for the West Brom game at Xmas. I hadn't been to WHL since 2008 unfortunately so I was really looking forward to heading back, especially as it was my 40th birthday that day!

I got tickets in the East Lower for myself, my brother and his son who is a Spurs fan and was going to WHL for the first time.

A few rows back from me there was one absolutely tosser who berated any Spurs player for the slightest missed pass or transgression from his perfect idea of how we should play. He had a particular hatred for Chadli. At one point Chadli came over to receive a throw in and all I could hear was "Fuck off Chadli you're absolutely shit" amongst other pleasantries within Chadli's earshot. I looked behind me to see who was shouting it and couldn't make him out. The bloke directly behind me said "He's here every game and hates everything".

Sad thing was that was my nephews first experience going to WHL.

I have been going to Spurs regularly home and away since 1989 up until I moved to the US in 2002. I have never heard anything like that from our own fans directed at our players before.

Tossers like that shouldn't even be allowed in. Having a moan every now and then I have no problem with but berating the players for almost 90 mins? Unbelievable.

What i find funny is that 90% of what goes on in here is moaning, whining, slaughtering this player and that player, he's shit, we're shit, the manager is shit, the chairman's a wanker, wrong tactics, wrong line up, terrible substitutions, crap crap fuckin shit crap!

But apparently everybody in here when they go to the Lane just gets right behind the team, sings, claps, never slags anybody off and supports the team unconditionally!

Lol very funny!

as my 8 year old pointed out yesterday, not only are we the best team in London but they turned our theme tune into a hymn! (she found 'Oh When the Saints' in the song book at church).
NO EXCUSES!!
