As Legend has just said it mirrors the contempt and negativity towards the head coach and players that we see on a daily basis in this forum so its no surprise really that the atmosphere at the stadium is crap

I just think we now expect too much, we need to play attractive football and win by 69927432 goals a game... if not we get on the backs of the players. We need to get back to signing for the club/players. This however was made harder by them banning the Yid chant, takes away some of the more popular songs.

We need to get more songs going for the players/club again as repeating the same 2 or 3 over and over just loses its appeal.

Hope is gone, and its replaced with expectation. Were stuck in a catch 22 it seems too. Fans will only sing when we play well/score and the players will only perform when fans sing. I hate whats happening at the lane.

One word......stewards!

They repeatedly stifle the atmosphere, I've hardly gone this year, can't be bothered.

The stupid yido chant thing was the last straw

As an aside, anybody who watched the Atletico v Barca game last night would see what a football atmosphere should be like. It even masked a pretty poor game, was just a non stop sea of noise!

I guess we need to bring back standing area. People are made to seat like sardines in a tin. It's bloody impossible to express your energy from the stands like Dortmund or Zenit fans do. They jump all game and sing freely.

Anyone who goes regularly and doesn't sing or clap or bang their hearts out for the team is a prick.

I've dreamt of a day out at the lane for the last decade and to hear this puss is disheartening for us foreign supporters.

I mentioned this last night, but I'll say it again in here.

We need a singing section (somewhere in PL lower ideally). Whether this is called the 1882 block, or just a general singing area is irrelevant. Even if the club just give a block that title, it will change the mindset of the people who buy tickets in that block.

It should be made clear on the website which block is the singing block so that the much older / much younger or just any fans who don't want to be in amongst that, can buy elsewhere.

I agree entirely.

But to think we need a designated singing section to improve the atmosphere is just saddening. I used to be proud of our teams support, but nowadays it is beyond cringeworthy.

I often feel I am not entitled to an opinion as I never go, but listening to Palace fans sing 'Just Like a Library' is actually embarrassing.

I can't decide on whether we have an incredibly spoilt home support who are demanding too much, or we just have an unintelligent set of supporters who don't realise what a detrimental effect they are having on our team right now.

People say they expect to be entertained, which is fair enough...

... but the players expect to be supported also!

Grounds with the worst atmosphere in the Premiership:

1st - Chelsea
2nd - Spurs

It's an absolute joke but in all honesty does no more than mirror the vitriol, spite and negativity found on this forum. The utter shit that is relentlessly spouted on here and no doubt other fan sites has found it's way in to the ground and we are being watched by a bunch of miserable, know better, FM playing football geniuses.

We are still better than Old Trafford and the Emirates in my opinion.

We should just stop selling Season Tickets.

That way, we would get a home support who actually want to be there and are prepared to put a bit of effort in.

I think before any season ticket or match day ticket can be purchased, that fan needs to audition their singing infront of a panel of Chas and Dave, Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle.

Hoddle: That's a no from me

The cost doesn't help. People expect more now that's it's so fucking expensive to go to football. It's no longer a hobby or a weekend recreation for a lot of people and I can sympathise with them to an extent.

A game like Palace is an expectant victory, a bit like paying your over priced Sky bill, you expect the service to provide.

The upheaval can't have helped either obviously.

i wonder if it's the demographics, most of the fans round me are late middle aged and older [ I include myself) and nothing gets going apart from Come On You Spurs which is so stale and And when the Spurs etc. whihc is much better away from home. Back in the day everyone around me appeared to be my age - late teens and twenties!

A lot of truth in that, the boo boys at the ground have been increasing in numbers for a few years now and i have said this before.

That was my first time over at the Lane this season, and as the op stated, I was also well aware of a declining atmosphere but wow yesterday was a real shock to me. I was sat in the PL upper beside the away fans. The thing that shocked me was the amount of abuse being shouted to our players and Sherwood. It was ridiculous, one fella sat behind me never shut his mouth the whole first half when things weren't going well, yet as soon as we started doing better in the second half he just sat there quiet. There were 3 of us that travelled over from Belfast yesterday, and all agreed that we'll try an away game next as the match day experience is just so poor now at the Lane and just not worth the money or effort it takes to get there. Never thought I'd ever see the day that I'd feel like that. :-(

I was sat in the East stand upper yesterday and there was one chap in front of me that did the same. Just shouted abuse for the whole first half at the team. Then, when it got better second half sat there in silence then left after 65-70 minutes.

A singing section (or 2) would be great in my opinion and give fan's the choice and we do have to appreciate that some people don't want to sing (for a variety of reasons) and you do have the occasional fan's, not in terms of support of the club but occasional in terms of ability to attend matches and may not know all the song's etc.

I think I sat behind that bloke when we played Sunderland on the last day of the season. Must be the same guy there can't be more people like him lol
