if HR goes 4-4-2 i think i will literally go insane, heard he was planning it at QPR ... blackburn although in a very poor position gave us a proper game at their place, and lets be honest they cant enjoy playing there much with all the bollocks their fans sprout out, and away from home they have got results against quite a few of the big boys, and would be more than happy with a point.

i like jondesouza's team, hopefully a bit of luck will return and we will get a result, even if the ball smashes in of someones nuts to get us a goal, i really couldnt care less!

By the time we kick off against Blackburn it looks like we will be in 6th place and 6 points off 4th!

If the players are fit, we need to go with what was working for us earlier in the season. As strong a back four as we can field, then Parker and Modric in the centre, Lennon, Bale and VDV with Adebayor up top. Simply have to get 3 points in this game or the season is done and dusted.

Blackburn at home ffs...Sandro can't surely play instead of Luka, we will have 70% possesion and i would rather luka had the ball rather than Sandro ffs, we must stick with Luka even though i admit he has looked really off lately.
Sandro has also been poor apart from chelsea away, when we were happy just to draw if we are honest.

IF Ade is not fit, i wouldn't be against putting bale up top for a bit of presence, but i doubt harry would take the initiative in that sort of way.

OK, its a shame I like the lads movement off the ball unlike our so called Superstars who just stand there.

Cameron Lancaster played in a Spurs X1 game today.

If Saha or Adebayor is not fit v Balackburn think I would like him on the bench.

I'm sure Bale will end up playing there at some point on Sunday - whether he's meant to or not.

assuming ade isnt their and the great buy that is Saha is injuried still which Is a shocking surprise given his brillant injury free record then i'd like to see:

Rose...King...Gallas...Walker

----------Sandro--Modric
---------------VDV

----Bale-Gio-Lennon

Ekotto needs a time out, Parker needs a break and i expect us to dominate possession here anyway with a packed mid

Bale and lennon are forwards of sorts sticking to the right and left respectivley, gio can't be worse than defoe in that role, its impossible to be worse than not touching the ball for 90 minutes.

as for goalkeeper, who cares, carlo and brad have identical average ability

With ‘arry bemoaning the strength of the squad, thought it might be useful to look at options for the bench – taking the squad used in the Spurs X1 game today.

Spurs XI: Gomes; Byrne, Khumalo (Veljkovic, 46), Uvini (Pritchard, 58), Rose; Parrett (Bentaleb, 58), Livermore, Luongo; Fredericks (Parrett back on, 72), Giovani (Lancaster, 46), Ceballos

GK : Gomes or Cudicini ?
FB : Smith is better than Byrne, Rose we know about
CB : Khumalo is below standard based upon his Reading performances. Uvini is not registered to play, Veljkovic is 16, did well in pre season matches and NextGen but surely too young this season.
Midfield : Pritchard was probably player of the NextGen tournament for Spurs (with Miles, Luongo and Veljkovic), great set pieces and did well as left of the attacking 3 in a 4231 – but has no experience. Heart says yes, head says to play him in the next pre-season first. Luongo again did very well in NextGen dominating midfield as one of the 2 in a 4231, but again needs more experience in pre-season. Parrett was doing well when Harry arrived playing in UEFA Cup matches but has fallen off the radar since, partly due to injuries. Bentelab is a great prospect, but not for now. Fredericks did well in Europa League at RB, and could liven up things on either wing. Ceballos is possibly still finding his feet in England this season.
Forwards : Giovani we all know about. Lancaster could be an option after his unexpected but welcome previous cameo.

Summary of Bench Options : Gomes, Smith, Rose, Livermore, Fredericks, Lancaster, Gio with wild cards for Luongo, Pritchard, Parrett and Veljkovic

4-4-2 lets open ourselves right up.

2 strikers up top, two wingers swinging crosses in. The perfect modern attacking lineup

I'll start it now

Gareth Bale - He Plays On The Left
Aaron Lennon - He Plays On The Right
Luca Modric - He Plays In The Middle
van der Vaart - He Plays In The Hole

I was toying with Fredericks on the bench in my line up. I don't see him as a right-back though and was surprised he was picked there. For me, he has to be a right-winger. I think he's too one footed to play on the left. I don't think Blackburn is the game for him though as they'll be very physical. I like Lancaster and thought his cameo was excellent. I understand Pritchard's contract is up at the end of this season. Hope we can hang onto him although we are very well served for young centre mids (Ceballos, Luongo, Carroll, Parrett, Bostock for starters).

Part of the reason I want a bit of a clear out is because I have high hopes for many of our youngsters and want the way to be cleared for them - much better to bring them on than block the way with ageing professionals who are never going to be first choice.

Fredericks is definitely not a RB by choice. More a right winger who can play left (but he can definiely play both sides) and certainly has the potential as an impact sub (year younger than Townsend, built and plays more like a young Lennon but possibly with better crossing than Lennon at that age). Agree not ideal now as Blackburn are a physical side - would prefer Townsend for both his greater experience and size but Fredericks would be ok, certainly survive and could make a good impact in a wing position from the bench. As with all young relatively inexperienced players would prefer to bring him on after Spurs are 2-0 up and with less pressure, but otherwise would not be that concerned.

Pritchard is a very slight player (Tom Carroll is almost big beside him being a year older) but skillwise is great on the left side of a 3 in a 4231 - and will be better I suspect than Falque within a year or two (Pritchard is not yet 19), and can also play in central midfield. Could turn into an English Modric as despite his size he is not easily disposeessed, but too early to call. Fantastic set pieces as said before - maybe only VDV is better in the first team. Definely the best attacking midfield player (rather than winger) we have produced since Ryan Mason ...and hope he fares better than Ryan has in the equivalent years.

Luongo is probably only 6 months older than Pritchard but physically poles apart - almost barrel chested - and just bossed the central midfield area in the NextGenh series par excellence like a combination of Parker/Sandro/Livermore - totally different player from Pritchard. The two of them have to be the 'form' midfielders (and possibly players) for Spurs youth for several years at present - imo Luongo is the more likely to come into the Spurs side earlier than Pritchard due to his physique and general appearance of maturity.

Parrett looked a good player 2 years ago and played in UEFA Cup, likes a tackle and generally a 'box to box' midfield player,
good player but seems to have been left behind by Luongo - he still looked good in England under 19 and under 20 games though. IMO next season the pre-season and (new) under 21 league could be his way forward as over the last 2 years his loan spells (as an average)....were average.

Ceballos still only 19 but has not been impressed that much when I have seen him, but have had better reports and he certainly has a bag of tricks - hope he is just adjusting to UK life and will give the consistently better performances next season that we expected when we signed him.

Bostock - what more can I add to others comments. Physically well developed when we signed him and good skills but has not consistently impressed that much for Spurs or the club he has been loaned to - although most of these clubs have seen a good player inn the first few games and then a very average player after that. Not sure on his future at all.

Carroll - Slightly built centre midfield player. If he had a right foot he could certainly play a Michael Carrick deep midfield role. Still young, lets see how he progresses as even without the right foot he looks a good prospect.

You are right we are well served in midfield - coming along the pipeline we have Munns (IMO an under rated player) and then in Academy Year 1 the likes of Kenneth McEvoy, Dominic Ball, Ruben Lamerias, Laste Dombaxe etc. We are not so well served in other areas although I have high hopes for Kane and possibly Lancaster in attack (with Coulibaly and Coulthirst 2 years behind), the (current) Academy Year 2 defenders and Archer and Miles in goal but outside of midfield its definitely more patchy !.

All in favour of a clear out to make way for youth but think we will only get 2-3 youth each year who are really good enough at best (this season has been Livermore and Walker), and of those I expect only one or two each year at most will stick around, with the others leaving within say two years of making their debuts. However having half a dozen or a dozen (in say 5 years time) club grown players in the squad would make a big difference to our ability to recruit the reest of the squad on bigger transfer fees as the club trained players would come in for 'free' (their training costs having been written off in previous years).

Friedel
Walker Gallas King BAE
Parker VDV Sandro
Lennon Adebayor Bale
dont have a clue if that would work or not, VDV has played in a CM of 3 before, and it will put alot of pressure on Sandro and Parker to stop anything from getting to our backline.
But Bale and Lennon wide, some pace and movement. :coffee:

That is exactly my line up, def drop Modders for this one, more than enough going forward there, just still think Harry will opt for a 442. But i certainly think that would be a much better shout than recent weeks.

We can't play fucking Blackburn with no aerial presence think about it. Sandro has to play because Modric and Parker aren't going to be winning any headers in the penalty area which is where Blackburn is strong. We already have to take our chances that King or Gallas can beat Yakubu in the air, we can't play with a lack of height in the rest of the side. Do people remember the game at their place? They were all over us and Samba was winning everything in the air and that was even with Kaboul in the team. Thankfully they don't have Samba anymore but they do have many players who are big and strong and can head the ball.

No doubt our moronic manager hasn't even considered this. Our defense also doesn't know how to play it out of the back which means they are going to be hoofing it forward and the Blackburn defenders will mop that right up but no doubt our stupid fucking manager hasn't even considered it or will even notice during the game.

btw I say give Modric and Parker a break because it is obvious that they are exhausted and playing Blackburn isn't going to help, instead we should play 4-3-3 with Sandro, Livermore, and VDV in the middle.

I don't really buy into that. These are pro athletes earning thousands a week. We last played on Saturday. They would have had eight days rest. If they need resting then they should be shot!

But you want to let Yakubu and Hoilett have a go at Gallas and King? Sandro has been passing poorly and contolling the ball poorly but he still defends well, still wins headers down the middle and is still going to protect two centre backs who can hardly move.
