Team vs Blackburn

I'm feeling strangely positive tonight and have a hunch we will get the much needed win at Blackburn and results go in our favour meaning we will be feeling a hell of a lot better about ourselves, the run in and more importantly, the future.

That aside, our team selection will be crucial and for me, the biggest question mark hanging over this game is who plays up front - will Adebayor be 'fit' in time or is it another Defoe no-show? Regardless of who starts, this has to be like a cup final and as much as the players themselves will need give their all for the cause and bust a gut, the crowd have to be behind the team from the kick off to the final whistle - proper hot atmosphere that shows the footballing world that we are still very much in the hunt and we aren't going to be the laughing stock any longer!

As for the team selection, I'm keeping faith with the mainstays this year and I'm assuming/hoping Adebayor will be back to spearhead the attack;

Friedel

Walker Gallas King BAE

Parker Sandro Modric

VDV Adebayor Bale

Yes, we can look at various players who are under performing of late but for me, this has to be the side and system that is going to give us the best chance of Champions Legue football next year and forgetting all the attention re Redknapp, it's what these players do on the pitch which is of upmost importance.

Its the side I would definitely pick and Adebayor should be back. Personally though I think Harry will start with the line up second half at QPR (with Ade in for Defoe)

4 wins on the trot or this summer I'll not be happy with anything other than a major shakeup. Something is rotten in state of Denmark.

The penny must've dropped for the players now as we're out of the CL places ffs.

My only concern is Harry going two up top (not even Rafa off a striker) which is a distinct possibility after what Hery said after the QPR game.

Yep. 4-4-2 all the way. Anything else is just poncy.

I don't think Ledley warrants an automatic starting berth so long as he can put his own socks on in the changing room. I would go with Nelsen and Gallas - Nelsen against his old club - he'll know how their forward (4-5-1 of course) will operate.

Friedel
Walker Gallas King BAE
Parker VDV Sandro
Lennon Adebayor Bale
dont have a clue if that would work or not, VDV has played in a CM of 3 before, and it will put alot of pressure on Sandro and Parker to stop anything from getting to our backline.
But Bale and Lennon wide, some pace and movement. :coffee:

I would have Sandro centrally, but it really isn't a bad idea Chris...

------------Friedel

Walker--King--Gallas--BAE

-------Parker---Modric

Lennon-----vdV-----Bale

-------------Ade

is the only option.

But we'll still lose, because our heads have gone.

Was about to agree with the post because of the team, but then saw the last line. Come on let's have some positivity we're not out of it yet, this is football, everything can change in a second. The ball may just take a bobble in the 6 yard box from a back-pass to Robbo and go into Blackburn's goal, giving our players that boost and go on to win it 5-0, COYS!!! Nothing is impossible.

Does anyone know if Cameron Lancaster is injured and if not why was he not on the bench at QPR?

Dropping Modric is a bit in vogue at the moment but at home in that system he should flourish again and it's only because of what has happened last summer why people are stating his heart is not in it anymore. Fact is, Modric is generally a poor traveller, always has been which is compounded by playing in a 442 so put him in a midfield three and hopefully he will dictate play and control the tempo from start to finish against Blackburn.

Nobody questions Bale's commitment yet his work rate has been as poor as Modric, if not worse but Modric is now a villain in a lot of people's eyes now and as good as gone.

I will go on record by saying if we play that system and that team then we will win.

I'm really worried Yakubu will just bully our defence like Holt did. The 1st goal is actually so so important in this match.

It was tough who to leave out.

VDV has been one of our better players, and we need Lennon out wide.
Could have Modric in with Parker, but with our back line 2 CM's that can put them self about might be what we need.

I would still go with the team Felmani suggests, definitely...but Chris's suggestion certainly wasn't a bad one IMO.

Its a worry for sure, maybe Nelsen playing against his old Club might actually be not a bad move at all....he might be able to handle the Yak...a good physical wrestle that is, and Yakubu isn't that pacey.

Honestly, it might be tempting to put VdV as captain as he is going to be the most influential player this weekend and a few of the others could do well to follow his lead.
