Yep, fair point, recent history is probably clouding my judgement. At any point in history though a midfield containing both Wanyama and Dier is pretty uninspiring

That's why I think you need a 3. If you play those 2. Winks in the middle, or drop back Alli or Eriksen to get it moving forwards.

Yeah, it’s certainly lacking in imagination!

Ah, right. We should take out the only player of ours who was able to score against them last year.

Because he scored against them last season means diddly squat, his goal meant very little because we still lost.

Going back to the summer you banged on at having 3 at the back because we had our best record with that, didn’t help v Watford did it. The last time we beat City Kane never played, perhaps we should rest him instead.

We need to dream bigger than that .

Look not having a go, but winning the Caraboa Cup will not sell tickets for next season. If we won the cup this season and finish 5th or worst, our top players will be waving goodbye, because the 2 more important things to them is playing CL and wages, then comes winning a trophy about the same as playing for their country in a big tournament. The only trophy that would be a dream is the actual premier league and the CL, and if your not competing in the top 4, neither come into the equation.

Apologies for wanting to play our most important player, and yeah we shouldn't need to play 3atb against Watford.

he has missed the last 3 league games, we have looked shit all season with or without him, but to state the importance on him because of last seasons goal is pointless.

I agree I'd rather see him on the pitch for us, but can understand that in games like this where grit might be more important over guile then Eriksen would miss out.

anyway after todays news I'm in no mood to get into an argument because if we was talking of Hoddle guile wasn't strong enough word for his talent

I just read that Warnock the ex Liverpool player says that Liverpool had to play at Wembley and not at the new stadium and people were not given any recompense for the inconvenience also that spurs had to pay in some way and intimated that Levy should be sacked .
Well what kind of penalty he wants I can only guess and him being a git like most scousers he most likely wants a points deduction .
I believe that the big losers in this stadium delay is spurs players and fans and we are in effect playing every game away.
The brainpower of some of these so called football pundits really shows how shallow ;biased; stupid they really are.
When we do get into the new stadium they will start to complain that because we went to the new place midway thru the season we should be sent down to the second division.
The spurs fans like myself who hate Wembley so much but still turn up to see my team are the real losers.
The joy I will feel when we get in the new home will be something to see.

Just to mention that every opposition supporter I have spoken to have been overjoyed to visit Wembley as they may not get the opportunity to watch their team at the stadium ever again excepting the big guns who use every reason to knock us without thinking that he if it was them in our position they would be in the same frame of mind as most spurs fans that being at Wembley is playing away shit stadium ;shit atmosphere ;shit transport ;shit food and drink.
I want my mum I want to go home.

In fairness THFC did make a blunder we should of announced straight up we'll be at Wembley for two seasons instead of the drip drip dates. Most people would except that...who in their right mind will trust a builder to finish on schedule shit happens.

If we want a result against City, we need to find a way to shut them down - and that means stopping their creative midfielders getting onto the ball.

Lamela is the key man here. He's without a doubt our best presser, and the hardest worker, out of all our attacking midfielders. His job is to stick to Fernandinho like glue and stop the ball moving up the field through him.

Meanwhile, Lucas uses his relentless energy and pace to give their fullback a hard time receiving the ball; and Eriksen tries to do the same on the other side.

This will force their creative midfielders to come deep, which will limit their effectiveness; they'll struggle to advance the ball when one has come deep, and given Dier and Wanyama a man advantage in the midfield.

This is similar to what Liverpool did - shut down Fernandinho, press their fullbacks hard; and have numbers in the midfield.

Then we have five big lads - Toby, Sanchez, Dier, Wanyama, Kane - to aim for from corners.

Also, our quickest fullback pairing. Duh.

I like this but I am pretty sure Rose is out injured....

Aside from that I am hoping its the lineup you state. Winks, Dele & Son on the bench to freshen things up late on.

I dont know if i'd start Lamela or Dembele in this actually. Cant get them hurt again. The pitch is going to be awful. It already looks terrible and we're not even half way through the first quarter in the Jaguars/Eagles game.

Yep the pitch looks like shit. Its going to worse as the match goes on. might suit us against city though.

I think that even if we were to put 4 past city we still would lose atm! Our resistance to the oppositions attack seems sooo very poor this season. Any team that knocks on the door will find a goal against us.

I don't know if I would play Dier and Wanyama as a midfield. Hoping they can mark Silva and De Bruyne out of the game is wishful thinking enough but then we'll be doing half of City's job because we won't have any player in there with the vision to start an attack. We'll be on the back foot and eventually they'll find a way to play through us.

One of Dier/Wanyama to shield the defense and then Winks to provide more creativity. Front 4 of Eriksen, Lucas, Lamela, and Kane.

Trippier Foyth Sanchez Davies
Sissoko Kane
Alli Lamela Eriksen
