Why would you not want Eriksen playing?

I get the feeling we are going to need to be aggressive and these sorta games tend to pass him by when we are actually competitive and im factoring in mouras ability on the counter and lamelas pressing ability.

Lloris
Aurier Alderweireld Sanchez Rose
Dier Winks
Lamela Dele Eriksen
Kane

Gazzaniga Trippier Wanyama Dembele Sissoko Lucas Son
If Dele and Rose aren’t fit, start Davies and Lucas, promote Llorente to the bench.

Heres a banker for you.
We're penned in under pressure. Everyone is man marked and we've no outlet but thats ok as Lloris has the ball. City player backs off about 8M from a full back or a Cb, just enough to entice Lloris to fall for it and he'll throw the ball out to a defender where he'll be closed down as soon as the ball leaves keepers hands (fell for it again sucker). 2 or 3 panic stricken passes will occur until someone inevitability makes a mistake, tries to clear the ball (which we could have done to start with and put it where we wanted) off balance and with not enough distance on it. It'll land with a City player just outside the box and in 2sec we'll be picking the ball out of the net.

As long as we keep playing out from the back regardless because thats our 'philosophy' right? :)

A dinosaur or not fkin stupid?

I applaud having a philosophy to play out but you vividly paint a picture which makes me think/worry if we need to be pragmatic. I pray I don’t return to this post and compare the final details against reality on Monday night.

Our best strategy is to push them wide. Walker is shocking at crossing and we can handle the small attackers in the middle. We need to pack the midfield, play narrow through the middle and defend allowing for counter attacks. So for me we should go 4312 (as there's no Vertonghen for 5 at the back) with Wanyama, Dier and Dembele sitting in front of the defence. Our best counter attacks are due to guile, pace and good passing, so for me that means Lamela should start, with Moura and Kane:

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Toby Davies
Wanyama Dier Dembele
Lamela
Moura Kane

Eriksen and Alli to come on later if looking for a goal......!

Solid ideas in that post, but we've played diamond midfields against Pep-era City teams a couple of times already, the results of it have been horrendous. What happens is our guys aren't sure who is to track who and central midfielders are reluctant to track back in the wide areas constantly, they further manipulate and move our players around, we just chase shadows, and the central holding player gets completely overloaded with the likes of Silva and De Bruyne who then start running riot.

We will win this game , then lose to west ham a couple of days later , finish 3rd or 4th and rue not winning a trophy and say we missed a chance of silverware when arsenal win the carabo cup . But it’s ok we qualified for the champions league , and we will repeat the process again next season ...

Trippier alderweireld sanchez davies/Rose(if fit)
Winks Dier dembele eriksen
Kane moura

A narrow compact 442 otherwise they will just overrun us in midfield. We have enough to hurt them on the counter.

I like Moura don’t get me wrong and I feel he’ll improve but I’ve gone we Son because I feel he’s more of a goal threat and has the stats in the bank. I like the industry we have in Lamela Eriksen Son Kane there’s pace skill work rate press and goals. Moura and Winks will surely play a part too. We can win this game with our A game ie press high and break fast

Ah, right. We should take out the only player of ours who was able to score against them last year.
