If Davies starts then we're fucked. Hope rose is back but I'd almost rather play a kid there over davies

Lloris

KWP Toby Sanchez Aurier

Eriksen Dier Winks

Lamela Kane Son

Subs : Gazza, Trippier, Foyth, Dembele, Sissoko, Lucas, Llorente

If we play Trippier RB in a 4 against city then it will be Halloween come early

We will win this game , then lose to west ham a couple of days later , finish 3rd or 4th and rue not winning a trophy and say we missed a chance of silverware when arsenal win the carabo cup . But it’s ok we qualified for the champions league , and we will repeat the process again next season ...
I'll take that now please.

Hope Poch will not make the same mistake again to play Trippier as RB. Basically he gave away every goal we conceded at Wembley last season.

Lloris Aurier Sánchez Toby Davies, Dier winks, Eriksen, Moura, Lamela, Kane
Sissoko come out for Eriksen at 68th when we are 2-0 up. Dembele for Winks at 75th to calm things down

Being fair, we were ran off the pitch both matches last season but strangely, the scorelines would have looked better if Trippier was not playing. He was garbage in those 2 games. Skinned alive. By far his worst performances for us. Until this year, pf course, where he’s somehow been worse quite a bit. Even his best games this season have been marginally better than that, but not by much. Pretty shocking how horrendous he’a been these last 2.5 months. Based on this seasons performances, he should be nowhere near the 11 and sitting 3rd in the pecking order behind Aurier and KWP.

He was pretty bad last year too... always been an average to below average player with one great ability, crossing.

Gazziniga
Aurier
Sanchez
Alderweireld
Rose (if fit)
Winks
Dier
Lamela
Eriksen
Lucas
Son

Rest a couple for West Ham as that’s a competition we can actually win. Mad people are picking Lloris. It’s a game against a big team, he’s bound to throw another one in. Got to be dropped.

Ah, right. We should take out the only player of ours who was able to score against them last year.

Well he scored a consolation after we were already battered, I don't think thats a good metric, player who scored when we are 4-0 down so I don't really understand the sarcasm.

End of the day I love Eriksen but in recent times what we have tried hasn't worked vs city so I'm suggesting we go for a team which gives us more defensive solidity, great pressing and pace on the counter. I don't think our football will be the most pretty but we need to stifle city as we've proven we can't go toe to toe with them in terms of technical quality.

I would actually play Sissoko in this one.(ducks for cover)
It’s all about the high press for us in this game and I think Sissoko with lamela and Eriksen behind kane would give us the best high press.
I want us to hound and chase them down like we did at the lane 2 seasons back, still one of my favourite spurs Pochettino games

I feel similar but probably would have Moura in for Eriksen purely for the counter. It's difficult to work out who to leave out but I think Sissoko doubling up on Sane is important.

We need to dream bigger than that .
We also need to be realistic and not get arse ache ( not refering to you) when we get knocked out of cl or dont win a trophy. We're still heading in the right direction. Onwards and upwards.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Looking forward to this one but please, let's not sit on a one nil lead throughout the match, let's kill the game off in the first half and then we can just relax and enjoy the second.

Our best strategy is to push them wide. Walker is shocking at crossing and we can handle the small attackers in the middle. We need to pack the midfield, play narrow through the middle and defend allowing for counter attacks. So for me we should go 4312 (as there's no Vertonghen for 5 at the back) with Wanyama, Dier and Dembele sitting in front of the defence. Our best counter attacks are due to guile, pace and good passing, so for me that means Lamela should start, with Moura and Kane:

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Toby Davies
Wanyama Dier Dembele
Lamela
Moura Kane

Eriksen and Alli to come on later if looking for a goal......!

Agree re pushing them out wide but that midfield is not great at the best of times, on current form it's horrendous

At the best of times that midfield is absolutely dominating. Just because Wanyama is crocked, Dembele nearing the end and a Dier not on his game, let’s not rewrite history and pretend they barely scrapped through games in their pomp. Dembele has dominated Man City’s midfield practically on his own before!

A 2 man midfield will get pulverised against citeh. Mind you, it's likely well get smashed anyway, but no need to make it even easier.

Gazza

Tripp' serge' Dier toby sanc' Foyth rose Davies kwp

Kane.

Silly bollocks aside, citeh aren't invulnerable. But It needs a proper spurs to turn up with proper press.

5 3 2 for me, with Aurier and rose on the flanks to support forward play. Winks in the middle of the centre mids. Eriksen, Lamela and Moura are surely set in stone?

Yep, fair point, recent history is probably clouding my judgement. At any point in history though a midfield containing both Wanyama and Dier is pretty uninspiring
