I don't think we should pass up any opportunities to improve and reduce the squad size. Why have Lamela, Moura, Bergwijn when we can just have Thuram as example?

I saw a post earlier showing Liverpools line up 10 years ago and how much they improved and it made me think about us. Despite the progress we have made in recent years I'd argue our line up is probably weaker than that if 10 years ago despite our wage bill increasing. We need to seriously clear out the squad as best we can and bring in as much talent as possible.
I suppose so, I probably just rate Bergwijn higher so I see it a bit unnecessary when it comes to how much other work needs to be done. But I'm not going to complain about bringing a guy in with that level of production in the Bundesliga.

Foyth has great potential, but we can't lie he did have some absolutely disastrous games for us - Bournemouth away springs to mind.

I think a move benefits all involved and wish him the best.

Wish we could have a stickied post (could be locked) that gives a running log of the players sold, purchased and what they were rumored to be sold/purchased for. Would probably eliminate some of the redundant posts about how much money we have to spend based off Player A, B, and C’s sales. Who knows? It may be done after today’s Foyth sale!

Juan Foyth will eventually be a David Luiz lite. Good defender but always prone to errors/never learns. Even this week he tried to dribble the ball out for Argentina in injury time, lost it, and conceded. Same as Sanchez. He has to go too.

I'd rather we let Lamela and Lucas (saddens me to say Lucas, but age reasons) than Bergwijn. Bergwijn is still young and has a lot of potential. Be a shame to see him go.

Yeah, both of those player’s values are declining, and Bergwijn, with an attack-minded coach coming in, could see his value climb given his age. Beyond that, I just think he’s a better player for us to keep around at this point and hopefully give him a chance to make a mark. For me, it’s a no-brainer.

I think Lamela will find a home in Italy.

Otherwise, I think we have to sell the fringe players who want to go, and can attract a good price. So, it might be as simple as we have a buyer for Bergwijn, and not Lucas (or maybe we end up selling all 3...)

He's only 23, so plenty of time to improve under a new boss and a settled system. I think given time and a run of games he could be a decent player for us.

If it's to raise funds and he generates a higher fee then I completely understand, as long as that money is used right. Otherwise it's a missed opportunity letting him go.

Lucas is being linked with a move to Saudi which seems so random it might be true. With Stevie linked with a return to Holland and Lamela set to go back to Italy, I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 left.

I'd rather keep Stevie if I had the option to. I think given the right environment he will flourish. Get his confidence back and he will do wonders. And if all three do leave (along with Bale), then we do need the likes of Marcus Thuram to bolster the options.

Stevie will come good, our best period under Jose was with him as part of the front three. He may not have scored or assisted, but watch his movement in so many of the Son-Kane goals. The way Jose ostracised him after the Liverpool game because he didn't score those chances he should have was ridiculous and completely destroyed his confidence.

Stevie might want to go back to Holland? We just don't know.

If we can make our money back, I would consider selling him. He's looked good in flashes but his productivity as a winger is really poor.

He might. Let's be honest it can't have been fun moving to a new country and almost immediately being in lockdown, and this is for all the players going back to maybe the Ndombele summer.

I like Bergwijn but his finishing is shocking - last season he did have a few chances to score but lacked composure badly. I dont know if Thuram is better but we do need someone else who will contribute to goals.

Rudiger still hasn't signed a new contract so is available on a free. He would want big wages but for me Instead of getting in the Lyon/Fulham CB, use that transfer fee as an upfront payment to rudiger alongside good wages and see if that'll get him in. Proven winner / leader which is exactly what our defence needs.

I wouldn't be bothered if Bergwijn went, I think he has struggled to adapt. Don't think he is very clincal. I think there is a good player there though just not sure we can afford to wait for him to flourish, probably finding it difficult here too. Think we need to just clear out as much as we can.

In regards to Bergwijn I would give him another season under a new manager as there's other pressing players to get out if we can. I think he could help out in multiple positions which is what this team needs in the squad and he'll run for days.

Lamela, Sissoko, Aurier, Toby, Dier, and Lucas are all players that are in or entering their prime and will not be offered another new contract most likely. If you want to target where to refresh the squad I think those are the players you try to move. Add in Winks, and potentially Dele/ Sanchez to this list if the right buyer/price comes in. It could be argued they deserve another chance as well as we've seen the potential. I think this could realistically add 80-120 million to the already 15 we have from Foyth.

I said this in the manager thread but I like the idea of how the squad looks minus the above players if PF stuck with a 3-4-2-1 formation. I would try and bring Bale back if we can get Thuram in as well, then we'd be pretty much set across the forward line.

The rest of the money should be spent targeting two quality CBs. Any extra funds could target another RWB and CM (at the right price) which could lead to Skipp loaning out to Norwich again, although I'm more than happy for him to stay.

ST: Kane/Scarlett (UEFA Conference, Thuram back up in the league)
LF: Son/Thuram RF: Bale/Bergwijn
LM/LWB: Reguilon/Sess CM: Ndombele/Lo Celso CM: Hojbjerg/Skipp RM/RWB: Doherty/Bergwijn
CB: Rodon/Tanganga/Sanchez/New CB/New CB
GK: Lloris/Hart(Would also be open to a young GK but not sure who's available

So all in all if we estimated we have 115 million to spend, that would give us 75 million to target any two CBs. Again any left over could come if there's a too good to be true option (sabitzer, new RWB)
