Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has admitted Cristian Romero’s withdrawal against Brentford wasn’t a concussion substitution due to an error. That is because Spurs incorrectly filled out the wrong form, which led to the north London outfit using one of their five allowed changes.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Postecoglou said of Romero: “He got a head knock and it was pretty clear.

“The medical team were monitoring him as he progressed from there and then he scored with his head.

“They were pretty sure we needed for his own benefit to get him off and obviously what we know about head injuries, for me it is not even an issue.

“We will always err on the side of caution. Cristian, the player is not the one you listen to in those situation because he doesn’t know what is going either, so I thought it was pretty clear what we had to do.

“[I’m] disappointed that we apparently filled out the wrong slip and it was not a concussion sub.

“In this day and age where what we know about head injuries, if we are going to worry about what form we fill out, I thought it was pretty clear what happened, but hopefully he’ll be okay.”

Levy was still negotiating the price for the correct form which meant they had to use the wrong form, so yes it was his fault.

Does this mean Romero will miss the United game due to concussion rules? Hope not be just our lucky, every time we play United we seem yo have our best players out.

What an absolute nonsense that you have to fill out the correct form to make a concussion sub. It's heat of the moment stuff and there's no need for beaurocracy.

I guess as we filled in the wrong form, he's not classed as going off with concussion, so as long as he is ok, I guess he can play?

If that logic is correct, yes it backfired on the pitch, but might be good if he can play!

Hope so mate he be a big loss if he doesn't play against United.

It was bloody obvious to everyone that it was for concussion reasons. It should be perfectly reasonable for the officials to confirm with the bench that is the reason without having to make sure you fill out form 111 instead of form III.

We still had one further option to make a substitution during the game so not sure the problem unless we wanted to make more changes. The advantage of not completing the paperwork is that we don’t have follow the specific rules of 7 days before playing again, so if there was no concussion then he is able to play next week.

Why do you need a form? Next there will be a request form for the form. Reminds me of work.... How long is this form? You'd didn't submit it in time. Erm...it's 5 pages long of medical justification ref....

"ref, he's off for concussion.

But he has hurt his knee.

Ok, here's a form.

Righto! "

Vs

Ref, he's off for concussion. He smashed his head.

Nope. You didn't fill out a form...…
