I've been playing a game of "if I were Patrici" and looking over our squad to try to see where the money comes from.

Players clubs want that we'd sell
Foyth - 13m
Aurier - 10m
Moura - 10m

Players clubs might want that we want to keep
Kane - 120-140m
Skipp - 20-30m
Bergwijn - 20m
N'Dombele - 30m
Lloris - 5m

Players we'd like to sell but might struggle to
Winks - 15m
Davies - 8m
Dier - 15m
Sanchez - 20m
Sissoko - 5m
Lamela - 5m
Toby - 2m
Dele - 30m

So we've got 33m ish from three likely sales. That's nothing really when you consider we likely need 120-150m worth of investment into the squad. Even if we sold all of the last category, we'd still be short of the total.

This is why we have to think about selling players from the second category. Selling Kane solves a lot of issues and probably allows us to go for a Ben White or Dybala as opposed to lesser options.

5M for Lloris and 2M for Toby? Okay...

I largely agree with you aside from the Dybala part. It would be so irresponsible of us to spend a sizeable chunk of the Kane money + wages it frees up on a single player. We can't replace Kane on an individual basis, forget about it, but we can make the squad alot stronger as a whole to compensate for losing such a great player.

To be honest I don't blame Foyth for signing permanently with them. Just won Europa, in the Champions League next season. While here we don't even have a manager yet and there's no guarantees he would be playing. Smart for all parties involved.

I don't think it would be possible for Foyth to reject this move anyway. Possible permanent contract is discussed during loan deal and Villarreal used their option to buy

Think that if we are going for any English keeper that is likely to come to us, I would go with Sam Johnstone. Been really impressed with him
The issue with the young English keepers at the moment is that they need playing time to develop, and we need a great or World Class keeper to compete for CL spots. We won’t get top 4 with any of the keepers in the England Euro squad as our number 1.

If we want Ramsdale (or Johnstone) then we need to buy them to loan them out to the lower half Prem teams for a(nother) year or 2.

We should take whatever offer comes in for Winks, Sissoko, Dier, Sanchez, Lucas & Lamela. Hopefully that can bring in around 70m if they all leave. Then we should look to sell Dele, Serge & Davies. That should bring in a further 70m. If they all leave, we could be looking at 130m-140m to spend. I’d go Skriniar - 40m, Andersen - 20m, Aarons - 30m, Sabitzer - 15m, Reyna - 25m. If an offer comes in for Gio at around 35-40m, i’s take it and either wait until January to use it or go for McKennie.

I'd rather Bale stay another season and we have a rotation of Son, Bale, Bergwijn & Sessegnon next season than spunking 30mil of a likely limited budget on Thuram.

I don't dislike the player at all but I think we have other spots we should focus on.

Sanchez has a higher ceiling than Andersen for me, and I think he could fit in well with a back 3 formation. I remember him being really good next to Jan and Toby in a 3 back. I'd give him a chance under an actual coach I think. I know last season was bad, but I do still think there might be a salvageable player in there.

Wouldn't sell Lo Celso either. The rest, I'd be happy to see go - even if I'll always love Lamela and Lucas. Plus, probably keep Davies for a LCB and LB option in a 3 at the back formation.

I don't think we should pass up any opportunities to improve and reduce the squad size. Why have Lamela, Moura, Bergwijn when we can just have Thuram as example?

I saw a post earlier showing Liverpools line up 10 years ago and how much they improved and it made me think about us. Despite the progress we have made in recent years I'd argue our line up is probably weaker than that if 10 years ago despite our wage bill increasing. We need to seriously clear out the squad as best we can and bring in as much talent as possible.

I don't necessarily disagree. The Sanchez thing is frustrating because there have been times where he is really good but he's so inconsistent and I feel like playing next to Jan was a difference maker for him.

I think he needs a change of scenery.

Or a better coach and a settled back line and strategy around him? Either could work.
