it wont be half empty though, we pack out constantly now with a huge season ticket wiating list, i can see us filling 55-60k comfortably every week even without cl footy

You been recently?

I think we've barely hit 35k... against Newcastle there were so many empty seats.

Towards the end of the game... sure. We still sell out almost every game. We got a load of tickets back for that because Newcastle have shit fans.

Outsung us by far! Even when we were winning!

Admitedly I guess a lot of the empty seats were in the West Upper towards the South corner which has a lot of corporate seats. There were still a lot of empty seats dotted about the stadium.

We need to establish CL footy first. I can't imagine us selling out a 55-60k seater stadium on a cold Wednesday evening at home against Bolton for example.

The ST waiting list maybe long, but will still only account for a certain %'age of seats at the new stadium - altho it will be in our best interest to offer as many ST as is allowed to fill the stadium up as much as possible.

Do we have to sell out every single game? I can see us still selling out the vast majority of games in a 60k seater stadium.

I thought we owned all of the land and astroturf pitches behind the east stand, which would make sense if they want to turn it 90 degrees.

well its a good 15,000/10,000 according to figures so that makes about 45,000 people who want season tickets with a lots and lots of club members (so much they had to stop people wanting to be club members) I would say that we should bulid a stadium of 50,000 ish min.

No of course we don't HAVE to sell out every game. But without CL footy and the harsh reality of the fact we are currently a "mid-table" team, having 35,000 people in a 55-60k seater stadium will be kinda embarrassing.

Chuck on top the increased prices a la Emirates for seats.

If you phone up Spurs you should be able to find out where you are on the list. I was about 9th or something.

It's been said that the waiting list is in reality a lot closer to 10,000 than 20,000, and that we keep hearing the higher figure because that way the club can 'justify' ramping up ticket prices.

A few weeks back BOF posted a report on a Trust meeting at which a club representative said that whilst they hadn't dismissed the idea of a 60,000-seater a 55,000-seater was more realistic; anything larger and people will soon realise they can just turn up and buy a ticket on the day, and ST sales will fall as a result.

but 60,000 would keep us up to date for the next 10 years or more. If we go for 50 or 55,000 we run the risk of in a few years time, needing more....

basing this on us getting into CL and having an awesome team

Should start rebuilding in the summer!

And it would also run the risk of having big empty spaces.

If you have a season ticket you go to every game unless you have a very good reason. If you don't have to buy a season you'll cherry-pick the games you go to.

Start building this summer? What planet are you from?

I'd take a guess that the cunning plan is for completion by 2012, with a view to the new stadium being an Olympics venue.

No we don't. It is owned by Haringey. We had the opportunity to buy it for £110,000 in the early seventies, when it was the Rugby pitch of St Ignatius School, but the Tottenham Board at the time couldn't see a use for it (possibly because they thought they were going to build a new ground at Alexandra Park and share with Arsenal).

And it has been owned and used by the local authority ever since.

No, that's a school I think.

Gotta be 60k IMO as this is what Chelsea and West Ham are going for, as well as Arsenal.

The thing about the fans on the season ticket waiting list is that they are probably members and so they go to games anyway therefore, increasing the number of season tickets wouldn't put a lot more bums on seats.

What will put bums on seats is the knowledge that there is a hope in hell of getting a ticket if you aren't a season ticket holder or member. I think I am right to say that the membership book was closed this season so there is obviously more demand. Currently if you want a ticket as a non member you are better off going on ebay because by the time they go on open sale there are none left, this means that people can't plan to go to a match and trust me they eventually give up trying, if people knew that even three games out of five they could be sure of getting a seat it would become part of their routine and they would go more regularly.
