I was having dinner with a friend last night and he told me that the lobbying company he works for are doing a presentation to the Tottenham Hotspur board today regarding plans for the stadium. He didn't have that much detail, merely that it is a 90 degree turnaround of the pitch at White Hart Lane and that it would involve building many shops and flats / houses too.

I know that others have already posted similar details here but just thought you'd like to know that there is certainly substance to this.

He said that the complex would be viable because of all the extra land the club own. Also that because of the extra houses and shops, as well as the extra capacity of the stadium, there will be further concerted efforts to get a new station / improved public transport.

I think this is excellent news as I desperately want us to stay in Tottenham and increase our capacity - this does both. What he didn't know is where we would play while these works are going on.

What about improved parking for people who have to drive?

I hope we stay, and don't mind ground sharing for a while, as long as it isn't a smaller stadium. Getting tickets would then be more difficult. Wasn't the decision to have been announced before the end of this month?

No we should not ground share with Reading.

We have a good history with Leyton Orient and should ground share with them.

The announcement and plans etc are due at the end of June.

I didn't think the stadium could turn 90 degrees as there's not enough room that way? It can be on the present site and extended out north and west to fit, or on the Wingate Estate like this picture, but there's no way the stadium would fit east to west on the land we own.

think reading would be suitable - great links in and out of london, Really hope we stay at the lane. New grounds on industrial estates etc have no romance just concrete everywhere and no atmosphere

no ground share - it's madness - and would be a massive mistake to dwarf any recent player transfer

That's correct. It couldn't be done—the existing stadium would just fit, but it would be a very tight squeeze indeed. An expanded stadium? No chance.

As far as I know, and posted a few months back, the club has plans to acquire the Wingate Estate and the houses at the north end of Worcester Avenue. Jim Duggan on Topspurs recently wrote in his editorial that he'd been told we paid £2m for a two-year option on the estate back in September; the total purchase price will be £17m—which seems a bit of a snip.

Unless we get regular CL football it will be embarrassing to see our half-empty new stadium.
