Looking at the subs made, the quality of the players coming on was so much higher than last season.

That is even without including Skipp and Richarlison. The depth at wing back now will make a big difference and I believe Conte will sub them regularly given the work they get through.

The scoffing at our result has started.

Agbonlahor: "It was only Southampton." repeatedly.

Yes, that Southampton we lost to at home last year. That typical team that pundits continuously state that "if Spurs are to do well, they need to do better against these types".

Consistently moving the goalposts these 'pundits'.

Great. I like us being under estimated. Let’s see what they say if we get a result against the chavs next weekend. Agbonlahor is a moron though, whatever he says, the opposite is true.

If the wingbacks can chip in with goals like Sess did yesterday and even CBs from set pieces, then we no longer have to rely on Kane and Son. Kulu helps massively with it as well. If those two don't score then we still have someone who can score. It'll be highly unlikely all three have an off day in front of goal.

Woke up this morning and checked the forum.

No sign of the pre-season ‘doom mongers’. Wasn’t the loss to Roma, and Arsenals hammering of Sevilla meant to shift the footballing equilibrium in their favour whilst also banishing any hope to a good start, we had?

Funny that results in pre-season aren’t the be-all and end-all after all.

Who’d have thunk’it?

The stadium’s anything but disappointing. What gets me though is the queue for a beer -every week it’s the same. Just pour pints in advance - it will get drunk.

Great result today though.
Almost seemed too easy

I obviously love the stadium. I just thought it was have been cleaned before the first game of the season.

WHAT ??!! ?

This was the first time Tottenham have played a home Premier League game at 3pm on Saturday in 973 days, since beating Burnley 5-0 in December 2019, and the first time they have begun a season in this kick-off slot for more than 20 years.

He is an absolute ****. These teams are not default wins - its funny how he didnt mention Liverpool didnt beat Fulham ... if these are all gimmes. Imagine Agbonlahor and Carlton Cole in a room - fuck me - argh

Anyways - look all ill say is we should exercise caution but also definitely think we are gonna win the league. Man United beat Leeds at home last season was it 5-1? they looked unreal and look what happened to them after.... so yeah

So as I predicted we didn’t win 8-0 so I can’t see us winning the league this season unfortunately

It’s actually the scrappy 1-0 wins that win you the league. Not sure our defence/defensive midfield is solid or good enough

You can’t win a league with Davies & Dier playing the majority of games, can you?

It's partially because during Covid, every game was on TV with a unique kickoff slot to give the nation something to watch, and therefore only 1 Saturday 3pm game each week. I seem to remember we had a long streak of starting the season away from home too. Still remarkable though!!!

Watching the extended highlights you can see how good Hojbjerg actually was. Had a hand in every goal. I watched the game on a stream so can't remember all of the good things he did.

Just from the highlights -
  • played a decent long ball to son which ended 1v1 with keeper,
  • played the ball to son when he didn't pass to Harry at the end of the first half for an almost certain goal,
  • Played the ball to kulusevski for the assist to sessegnon,
  • Played the ball to son for the assist to dier,
  • Played the ball to son for the "assist" to emerson cross for the own goal,
  • Played the ball to emerson for his assist to kulusevski.

PEH is criminally underrated by us. I just dont get it. Just because he isnt elite, people think that he is a weak point. He really isnt. The fact of the matter is that he and Bentancur have a good understand and as a partnership theyre damn great together.

Bissouma is an excellent player but we dont know yet whether he and Bentancur could work. If there was a CL final tomorrow - we all know who would be in the middle. Against Chelsea next week - I would be far more comfortable PEH and Bentancur than the other potential pairings.

I thought him and Benta were brilliant yesterday. Controlled midfield.

If Bissouma isn’t an upgrade we’ve got trouble

Hopefully he’ll be the player we hoped PEH was!

He’s done ok but ultimately isn’t as good as we hoped he’d be. Unlike when we signed Wanyama, who was fantastic

Spare of thought for Lloris.
The save of Aribo was world class IMO. Pace at which it was taken -not many saving this
